Are WNBA players trying to intentionally injure Caitlin Clark?

No interest in the WNBA but Caitlin Clark is an interesting subject. In your opinion is this an intent to injure?

Yes. The Fever needs to go NHL and have an enforcer on the bench ready to check in at any time. That foul was somewhat normal even if intentional, but the shoulder to the face by the Connecticut player the game before should have gotten the player suspended for the season.

johnnydoom That foul was not anything close to normal, it was much like a blindside hit, which is always a deliberate thing, in the NFL! And those sometimes have ejections attached with the yardage penalties. That 'hit' last night was ejection worthy, but the WNBA officials are the worst group of any sport. And imo, they are just as much against CC as a lot of the players/coaches are. And they are also mostly black. Which is the whole deal. It's not something of my mind, it's out there for all to see and if one doesn't, well, they are blind. Racism is rampant in(& of) the WNBA, and not just against CC, but it is her that's exposed it with the huge public exposure (now) of the whole of the league.

I think the point that’s been made about it being a league primarily made up of women who are not straight and white is real. There really seems to be a jealousy factor. They should embrace her because nobody gave a crap before her and if she’s gone, their contract potential will go right back down. She’s great for the sport, but the old guard doesn’t like her. There have been several blatant attempts to hurt her this year. If I were running the team, I’d sign the big chick from the US Rugby team to a contract, every time someone laid a finger on Clark, I’d send in reinforcement to level the other team’s best player IMMEDIATELY. Pay the fines for her until it stopped.

I don’t know if some resent all the attention she receives, or if she’s as n irritating trash talker … or just normal rookie hazing. Regardless, viewership is up 183% … how dumb would one have to be to risk killing off the golden goose?

I don’t think she has been, but maybe is embracing the conflict now. Last night after the game was out of reach she was trolling the Sky to the point of being silly. I think the coach took her out less out of concern for injury or rest and more to keep her from getting sillier. They definitely deserved it though.

It was, and I wasn’t really meaning to imply otherwise. But when a slower player sees a loose ball and makes a commitment to get it, it’s not uncommon for a faster player to beat them to the ball and for the slower player’s momentum to carry them hard into the other player. It doesn’t excuse the foul or the severity of it, but it happens frequently and usually not out of malicious intent. In this case it probably was, given that the same player hacked her three time in a row. Usually though it’s more like when a defensive lineman commits to hit the QB at the same time the QB decides to throw the ball. The ball is gone but it’s too late to avoid the hit.

She's so damn good, she's going to have a target on her. It's like being Tom Brady without an offensive line. I like the enforcer strategy. Get Tom Wilson (6'4", 220 lbs of badass) to wear a wig and knock offenders into the cheap seats.

sdandrea1 Little to no retaliation is seen from either her or her teammates when these 'incidents' occur. And imo, she has been the one to put word out as to not to. Yes, there is mouthing going down after, but no near fisticuffs as I've seen in other WNBA games. I think she has put word out to teammates to not. She's savvy enough to know that if you 'walk away' it will infuriate the opponents even more and get them off their game. A big "W" is sweet revenge, as in the asskicking they gave last night!! I loved when she 'did the walk' after being taken out.😅

Even in Chicago last night, full house, Angel Reese's 'hood....... and a huge % of the crowd had #22 shirts/jerseys on.

I don't know that there is intent to "injure" but it is not a basketball play, no play on the ball, and shoulder to shoulder and ran her over to the ground. Should be the most severe T and ejection. I don't.know how the wNBA handles these plays. Unfortunately their is a lot of jealousy over CC and it is turning into a sh1t show of race, gender, sexuality. I'm soooooo tired of it in general. Going back to LSU/Ilowa and Angela Reece and Caitlin Clark. I suspect "it" has been brewing for longer than that but ?? I sh1t you not I'm in an Ethics and Boundary training a week later and the topic is Implicit Bias training. Every other year I have to get 32 hours and 4 of those are ethics and boundaries🙃......by zoom and someone brings up the CC/AR interaction and resultant reactions by the CC faithful as an example🤔. I wanted to unmute and say they are athletes and if you asked them they would roll their eyes and say its a big nothingburger and they are just playing. CC getting treated like a dog as result of the reactions to race/gender/sexuality is pathetic. As far as I can tell she is just trying to play. I don't see it going away anytime soon.

When she is looking at ROY and even possibly POY, all this surfaces. Check the %s of the WNBA. iirc, something like 78% non-white and 40% not wanting to be known as 'woman/female'(not sure why they are in the WNBA), and you can see the bias.

Migawd.....the deliberate feeding of AR is so blatantly obvious, esp. when they are losing. And those plays are coming straight from their coach!!

After the shoulder to the face her teammates surrounded her and tried to keep her from doing anything. The announcers said it’s because Caitlin has 5 technicals on the season and if she gets (I think) two more she’ll face a suspension. I don’t know what the nature of those all were. The one I saw was her slapping the protective mat on the basket post in anger after missing a shot. I wouldn’t be surprised if all were similar to that stupid call. The WNBA refs are circus clowns. After several fouls last night they gathered around the monitors for 5 minutes. They know the Fever win by gassing their opponents with a fast pace, so they’d give them five minutes of rest every few minutes of game time.

And this may well happen, sooner that later. With her off the court, it gives the gals much better chances...., that the high % of players, coaches, and imo, refs want to see win awards, if she is sitting.

I've watched every one of her games and many of other teams. You have to be blind not to see what is going down, even when it's not her game being played. ex. check the stats for AR the last 2 games when her butt-buddy 'feeder' Chennedy Carter has been out, and check for when she was in. Mega diff in stats for AR.

And I pity Kate Martin for being her close friend. All of a sudden, she seldom gets into any game. She can score, but oh wait....that is A'jas POY strength and is not to be stepped on. CC might beat her out.
Yet the Aces look like shit, but that's not the important thing now. Gotta keep CC at bay however any team can.

I'm not seeing as to how those gals in the WNBA are not 'identifying' as women/female.....they certainly act like women/females😲🤣. And thugs. Lotsa thugs. More than any other sport, be male or female. Tyson would be scared of the WNBA, imo.

vs. earlier in the season when they just merely stood by, or walked away. And she still did nothing. Except to maybe pump in logo 3 over that player's head 😄.
She ain't no Dale Earnhardt, but she does get the intimidation across.

The technicals in the WNBA are nothing more than clown acts by the refs. I've seen very few, if any in fact, that were legit technicals to be called.

Par4QC I heard that Kate Martin merch is outselling A’Ja’s😀. I think A’Ja is probably the best player in the league (I don’t watch the WNBA except as a CC bandwagon member), but every time I see her in an ad or interview all I ever see is diva. Doesn’t come across as likeable even if she is a great player and photogenic. Same for AR, who doesn’t appear to be trying to improve her skills. Caitlin is becoming better at finishing at the basket, making short range jumpers, and even occasionally playing a little defense (which I never saw from her before the All Star break). Still not good in those areas, but steadily improving.

From the games I've watched, she gets 'fed' a lot. I think by design in order to get POY/high average. And with CC putting her foot to the floor since the Olympics, pressure is there.
The other night A'ja scored 42. Game lost. In until the end and being fed the whole way. Much like has been done with Angel, who gets more feeds inside the last 2 minutes than anyone in the WNBA, in order to get the double/doubles.

And talk about protection.....in July the Sky traded Mabrey......avg 5 RB/game.....14 pts./game. Played every game and was starter. Oh yeah, she's white also which I'm sure had absolutely nothing to do with anything, but I mention it only in passing. For some reason.🤔

Martin was playing well early in the season, and scoring. Not so much floor time as the season(and awards scramble) winds down to 8 or so games. Jus' sayin', again. I see it on other teams as well. 'Stars' being fed, in hopes of.
