I’m not looking for a $400 LA Golf putter shaft. I’m looking at the $15 SK Fiber vs. the KBS CT Tour at $40-50. The SK fiber is graphite and 115 grams at 36” the KBS a little more with 124 grams at 38”.

I’d be more than happy with the SKFiber price but it’s not like I have to refinance the house for the KBS. Just wondering about performance.

Only reason I’m looking for a putter shaft is because I don’t want to cut the one in the Cameron, I’d rather keep the original and put a replacement in it.

Typhoon the one I ordered came.in at ~ 118....ymmv....was gonna use as a wedge shaft as an experiment but never got around to it. You could just use shrink tube on a regular graphite iron shaft if black is the goal......or permanent marker 🙃😉

Typhoon quick note on those weights you mentioned -- the SK is going to be roughly 3.19g/inch and the KBS is going to be roughly 3.26g/inch. In short, they'll weight the same once you cut them to length.

I put an old Mercury graphite shaft in one of my Evnroll putters, works great better feel than steel!IMO
Not a big deal to change them and experiment with different shafts.
Stiffer the better more or less.

Honestly I didn’t detect any particular difference in feel or performance in my experiment. The price of the ‘name brand’ graphite putter shafts seem outrageous to me for what performance improvements that might offer - if any. The SK Fiber shaft is an inexpensive way to try one out though.

d5n03 I bought one of the SK Fiber putter shafts earlier this year for a putter restoration project. Unfortunately, still haven’t gotten around to the restoration so my post is essentially useless 🤦‍♂️

I'm currently using an old PING titanium prototype driver shaft cut down for putter use.

I dunno.......might feel weird. I guess as long as you can get the heft where you want it, there's no real disadvantage. Does it actually weigh 115g?

sdandrea1 If you are asking about the SK Fiber shaft, mine was 116.7g & 36” uncut.

d5n03 The only thing I think about, and Backinit noticed it with the shaft he tried is the torque. The SKFiber was something like 5.1 or 5.4. For comparison I couldn’t find anything on the KBS or even a crazy expensive LA Golf putter shaft. You just read where they say “low torque”…. But in the world of putters what is that exactly.

Typhoon I’m not convinced that torque in putter specific shafts is that big of a deal. I mean just how high of a swing speed does one put on a putter? Besides, torque measurement methods from manufacturer to manufacturer are not standard - pretty tough to compare as apples to apples.

Why would torque even matter? You're not swinging a putter fast enough to make the head twist,even if you do hit off the toe.

Typhoon I have 6 versions of the Arnold Palmer AP30 putter that I have been using for decades. I put graphite in three of them and love it.

Every slow motion vid of a putt I've seen shows the ball in the air and skidding a bit when it lands before it starts to roll. Every one.

Yeah, that is where I have a negative AoA and chop down on it to get more backspin. 😉

I may be wrong, but it just seems a matter of heft and feel with putter shafts (assuming length, etc).
