Seldom have I played courses where the pin is towards the back of greens. More typical is mid-left/mid-right, or even front. imo, makes no sense to go for center of green when the ball is going to go to the back, unless you 'really' know how to spin a ball from over 100. Therefore, I (mostly) go for front of green. This(not always, but most often) let's me be within 20' of the hole, WHEN I hit the green. In the event I come up just short of the green, as happens quite often, it still puts me within a very short distance to the hole. Have had my share of chip-ins, and tons of 1 putts. When I am within a few yards of the green, I will always go for the pin, meaning I read the green to see where ball should land in order to roll towards hole.....not fire directly at the hole. Unless it is just a few on, behind a bunker, then I'll hit behind the hole. And I always approach away from any bunkers. But, shit happens, ya know. (doubled 1 the other day due to this)
I'll add that I don't see bunkers placed in front of greens in this area, unless you'd be playing at some private club. It would be very rare on any other course. And typical greens are not flat at all, with 'pissed-at-the-world' fellas that cut the holes. While leaning 1 direction or the other.
