Weirfan Maybe the wrong answer?
Got new irons in February of last year. Over the course of the season (in which I play, at MOST, 27 holes a month from April through October) I hit the flag on the fly with two approach shots, holed out from 132 yards on the range, and holed out for eagle from 82 yards.
In the prior seven seasons, I hit zero flags and had zero hole-outs.
So, maybe for some people getting new equipment CAN make them better???
