My memory of Pete Rose is from the 1975 World Series between Boston and Cincinnati. That’s the series where Carlton Fisk hit the home run to send the series to a 7th game.
I remember one of the Red Sox players saying that Pete Rose during the game said to him. “Isn’t this fun!”
Mike Barnacle this morning told the story of the day after that game October 22nd 1975. He approached Pete Rose that afternoon on the field and with trepidation asked him how you do comeback from such a devastating loss?
Pete’s reply. “Are you kidding me? Last night was the greatest baseball game I’ve ever played in.”
Btw. He belongs in the Hall of Fame. Put everything on his plaque. He played 25 years and was one of the greats. Should’ve done it while he was alive. Glad to see where Cincinnati put him in their Hall of Fame.
