"Souther â whose best-known songs included the Eaglesâ âNew Kid in Townâ and âHeartache Tonight,â Ronstadtâs âFaithless Loveâ and his own âYouâre Only Lonely,â which gave him a top 10 pop hit in 1979 â was also an actor with roles on TVâs âThirtysomethingâ and âNashvilleâ and in movies including âMy Girl 2â and âPostcards From the Edge.â Among the other acts who recorded his songs were Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, George Strait and the Dixie Chicks."
