johnnydoom Spuzz I didn't watch the show much because it always felt scripted, but I did find Phil and the family to be entertaining. I know he was a religious fellow and pray that he is enjoying the eternal life he was seeking after the past couple years of suffering.
[deleted] Rick Derringer. I saw him live once. Oddly enough he was supporting Cindy Lauper. I think Eddie Money was the opener.
sdandrea1 [deleted] Rick Derringer. I saw him live once. Oddly enough he was supporting Cindy Lauper. I think Eddie Money was the opener. Besides being the lead dude in the McCoys (Hang on Sloopy 1965) he was a prominent record producer. Hooked up with Johnny and Edgar Winter for his own mastery and also played on many records with other well-known artists. Google him. He was well connected. RIP.
mulegolf sdandrea1 [deleted] Rick Derringer. I saw him live once. He has a place in our heart. "Hang on Sloopy" was one of my wife's favorite songs from the 60's and "Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo" was the first song my wife and I danced to on our first date. At the time I didn't know he was the lead singer on "Hang on Sloopy" as well.

johnnydoom I wasn't entertained by MASH or Peter, Paul, and Mary. But I know plenty of people found joy in what they did, and I hope they had great joy bringing entertainment to others. Rest in Peace.
johnnydoom Walterjn I didn’t hate the show, I just found it more serious than I like comedy to be. The only characters that appealed to me were Klinger and Potter. The only scene I actually recall now was Klinger trying to escape via hang glider.
rsvman2 Walterjn Kind of inescapable, since it was a 'comedy' set against the backdrop of a surgical unit in an active war zone.
Walterjn rsvman2 I'm pretty sure they the guys who wrote the book on the mash unit the show was based on included a lot of gallows humor and the writers kept it in and tried to tone it down some.
Par4QC Walterjn Actually the show was a spinoff of the M.A.S.H movie. You need to watch it. TV show was never as good as the movie.
