Saw a show on the race to break Roger Maris’s record of 61 home runs recently. It was 1998 and McQuire, Sosa and Griffey Jr. were on fire.
Mark McQuire had the stuff he was using visible in his locker. You could buy it at a health food store. Little did we know he was using steroids as well.
McQuire has admitted to using steroids. Sammy Sosa has not. The problem with the steroid era is Baseball was late to the game outlawing it.
No question steroids improve performance. The problem with that era is we really don’t know for sure who was using steroids and who was not.
What do you do. Put an asterisk next to everyone who admitted using steroids along with those suspected? Or just shut everyone admitted and suspected out.
Again, Major League Baseball brought this on themselves.
