I hope this doesn't sound critical about your review but I think to give it a better review it should be built to recommended specs not using a pullout shaft with unknown tip trimming and adding head weight. I would use a new shaft, tip trim it for the head weight and build at the recommended length. But that is just me. Enjoy your tinkering project. 👍

You are not out of line at all or being too critical fine sir…this shaft is more than likely tipped too much being that it came out of a 4 hybrid…so your advice/suggestions are valid. It was an easy & quick experiment to try the head out since I already had it prepped and sitting on the bench. A reshaft is most definitely in the cards before making a final decision…that is for sure.

VigilanteTrail Yeah, that’s what I mean… I get people that come to hit the UDI and I say to them how about a hybrid? And they’ll say they can’t hit a hybrid… and I get that, I’m not a hybrid guy either but they are really not good with a UDI. Hitting a UDI off the ground is tough, you really need above average clubhead speed.

For damn sure…and this guy doesn’t have that kind of speed…but I do like how straight it is off the tee…it may end up just rotating into the bag as a tee only club for certain rounds…we shall see.
Just reshafted it with an untipped @LogicalOne 85S to try out and it is now enjoying the lonely 24hr cure 👍

Well, I've always thought(known?) that DI means driving iron.....driving= key word. And I'm sure my driver was also made for driving, not for use on the FW. Regardless of what any OEM may tout, or Bubba Watson does on TV.

Then again, WTH do I know?

I can't do it now, but used to carry and hit one, often off of the turf. And I've never been a long hitter. I was, when younger, a good iron player though and hit the 2i about 200 off the turf and 210 off the tee. That was about the same distance I hit 5 wood, but I was more accurate with the 2i. Don't even carry a 3 iron now and the 4i is getting iffy.

I carry this occasionally when it is windy. I can hit it about 170 straight. Doesn’t get very high but good roll out.

candukid may hands are stinging just looking at it.. good on you, I’d use that for punching out from under the trees I would inevitably be under bc I decided to hit driver vs the iron I should have hit.

Surprisingly it doesn’t sting. I really think that today’s ball technology, with them being softer overall, helps them to be friendlier.

johnnydoom Just a mention here but a bunch of years ago I posted either here or FGI where I took a Ping eye 2 8 iron and hit a Balata Titleist and a Titleist pro v. The club worked sooo much better with the balata vs the pro v.
