Torque numbers and driver dispersion

So I recently picked up swing speed and made a pretty drastic shaft change. I moved from a Motore F3 6R to the Lin-Q Red 7F4.

My average numbers on the Mevo are as follows:

Note that these numbers are from in-round data and not on the range... which I find to be more accurate.

The one thing about my ball flight is I now have a fairly aggressive fade as opposed to my normal straight ball flight. I noticed that the torque on the Motore is 4.5 where the torque on the Lin-Q is 4.1. Would 0.4 torque different be enough to influence ball flight significantly (I wouldn't think so)? It should be noted (I think I mentioned it before) that my SS with the Motore F3 was only in the 93 MPH range and it's gone up to 98-102 with the Lin-Q, even with the increase in flex and weight.

pike51 Biggest issue is there are no industry standards to measure torque comparing one shaft to another. Using a manufacturers torque rating you could compare one shaft to another in the manufacturers rating system but not one manufacturer to another manufacturer. EI shaft profiles would be the best way to compare one shaft to another.

My totally uneducated guess would be that the new shaft has a stiffer tip then the first one beyond just torque. Scott's is your guy if he sees this.

jmo, but the torque is not your problem.
You went from an R flex to an S flex, causing the fade.

Never base a shaft's flex by your swing speed.

I'm not basing the shaft choice by swing speed... I was fit for the new shaft on Trackman (outdoors). I just noticed that my ball flight changed and was trying to compare the shaft specs to see what the difference might be outside the weight and other "obvious" things. Interestingly, when I was testing the 6F4 version (lighter) of this shaft, my clubhead speed was lower.

I'm going to get a few more rounds and go from there.

How many shafts did you go through during the fitting? It's nice that you gained speed, but I'm curious about the spin/apex/aggressive fade. Can you hit a draw with it?
I think that torque has a lot to do with feel, but as previous stated in this thread it's another variable in this world that there is little to no standardization.
I can remember looking at some of the Hireko charts looking at measured torque being so confused.

I hit about 10 shafts... interestingly, this was the 2nd shaft I hit after getting the baseline numbers off my previous gamer. The first one he moved me to was a HZRDUS Black 70 gram.

I've never really been able to hit a draw on command but I have hit a couple nice draws with this setup. I'm basing the ball flight off my stock swing.

I would think that the "rights" have more to do with as shaft weight and moving up a flex than 2 slightly different "listed" torque numbers. That said sometimes there isn't a ton of difference moving between some reg and stiff flexes. I have a regular flex Fuji Pro xlr8 series that feels slightly tighter (to me) than the UST V2 stiff that I had been using....it depends on the day. The reg Fuji definitely has a slightly lower boring flight.

This thread reminds me of a Cobra driver with a Fuji Ventus Velocore (red in color), reg flex. Weight was 50ish grams. Well, needless to say, it was too stiff for this old man. I let some of the young Turks hit it at the driving range. These guys pretty much hit their drives 300 yds or so. They all guessed the shaft was a stiff flex.
Bottom line, I sold the shaft and got a Fuji Vista pro in reg flex. Much more my speed👍

ode Easy experiment for weight. Find the balance point of the shaft and on the backside of it run a strip of lead tape. Make sure the balance point stays in the middle of the tape. This is a way to add total weight and not affect swing weight.
