Sub70/SMT idea

So, we all know Sub70 and SMT are owned by the same company along with DTG and Hurricane Golf. I think it would be cool to see a Sub70/SMT collab driver. Add in one or two classic SMT features, like the smooth face and have "Sub70 powered by SMT" or something. Other idea would be to re-release the Nemesis and 455DB heads with some updated technology like the adjustable hosel. I know I'd like to see a 460cc Nemesis head (in the beautiful blue).

I guess my point is the SMT brand just seems to be sitting "dormant" and I feel like it still has potential. Sure they have clubs and a website... but it's just sitting and could be used in a much different way.

None of my business really. Just wanted to put some thoughts down and share with others who might have a similar thought seeing the return on the big stage of companies like Never Compromise (Srixon).

I am still the owner of SMT Golf, so........ (hahaha)

Jason owns Diamond Tour Golf, Hurricane Golf and Sub 70 Golf.
He is also the single most successful component company that I have ever known. Love what he has done.

SMT sales are well over a million dollars per year and growing. There is no marketing of the brand.

Jason, Dan and I have met regarding a new driver head. They want me to design it and I have been working on it for over a year now, which is typical when you are a finiky prick like me.

It will have a smooth face, for sure, but until I can get the numbers that I am looking for, right, it will remain a work in progress.

I had thought you offloaded the club portion of SMT and went forward as a "promotion" business. My apology if that's incorrect. How much were you involved with the current lineup of SMT offerings (if I may ask)? I'm curious because they don't seem to have the overall aesthetic of what you offered in the Nemesis, 455DB, Indio, Spectrum, etc. Those heads were all more clean and simple... pleasing to look at.

That said, I still think a smooth face SMT driver, powered by SMT AND (BIG F'ING AND) available in left hand would be awesome!!

SMT wow, I didn’t put that together, that is a lot like the Spectrum.

I would love to see a “new” DB455, that was such a great head. Just a “modern” face that is a tad more forgiving, but keep that DB feature, I’ve never been more consistent than with that head.

SMT I loved my old Spectrum before I was finally able to adapt to the 460cc heads. Took me a few years before my brain finally accepted them.

SMT I know it may not be a popular opinion but I keep trying component drivers and they cannot compete with the OEMs for the total package; distance and forgiveness, etc.....was gonna say looks but it is so subjective. I would have not said that when first caught the component itch ~ 20 years ago, but since the advent of the adapter and high MOI. The line of Ping since the 400 is amazing, same with Cobra since f9, and the Tour Edge since the 721 series....currently playing a TE e722 and it is an ugly duckling but damn is it forgiving and long. The KE4 TC Max is the first component head that I hit and thought it came close.....i.e. I wouldn't.be sacrificing that much by going away from what I'm hitting. I'm not saying I'm right but it's my anecdotal experience and IMO the component world has a LONG way to go to bridge the gap!

Ahh, the db+. I had a 12 deg back in the day shafted with a grafalloy blue at 47"- it was my fairway finder. I miss that driver, one of my favorites of all the drivers I've ever played. Every now and then I look on ebay for one to see if I can find a lower lofted one as I loved the feel and look at address, but no luck so far If your finicky ass ever designs a new driver, I'll be very interested!
