kenner symptoms started about 5 yrs ago. Small quick, sniper pains, that if they lasted any more than split second, would've taken me down. The past year or 2 just progressively got worse, but I always attributed it to my back issues more than a hip issue. Then my last round of golf, 1st week of October, I'd had enough. Had xrays and both my PC Doc and the Orthopedic guy said my xrays were "beautiful" and there was no 2nd guessing. Both said they were surprised I lasted as long as I did. Bone on bone and a part that causes it to catch/lock. Everytime I stand I have to wait for it to click/pop into position. Been limping around for over a year and here I am. Believe me, I've downed more than my share of pain meds over these years. My back issues started 7 yrs ago.

      I'm surprised that you had toughed it out as long as you did.
      The surgery will rid you of the pain almost immediately after the surgery and you will be golfing in the coming Summer.

      Make sure you do the Physical rehab as soon as you are allowed , the period and the depth of recovery depending on it.

      Two guys in our Quota Group who have recently had the anterior (front side) approach. One was playing golf 6 weeks later and the other guy who lives off the 2nd tee box came out this morning as our group was teeing off on the 2nd hole and said he was going to see the doctor this week to get clearance to start playing golf again.

      This Thursday will be 5 weeks since he had the procedure.

      On the flip side play with another guy who had the posterior (rear side) approach and he was out a few months before being able to play golf. Front side entry seems to be much less invasive and therefore a shorter recovery time.

          Well, he's doing "post", something about my size, but I guess they go in through the side, is how I understand it. At least thats where they have me scrubbing with this clorox stuff they gave me. Personally, I think it's more to his convenience than mine.

              I can testify as a witness on a daily basis of how well anterior approach patients do. I get them up and walking, climbing stairs and going home so quickly on a daily basis. Been in orthopedics over 20 years and it's just amazing. I had a bilateral knee replacement climb two flights of stairs and go home on his 2nd day last week.

                LB- I had back issues too. 3 years ago, I switched to the PPGS of Don Trahan, and now, no back pain at all. All the best for your surgery.

                Thanks, Landon. I've had moderate discomfort for 5-6 years, but it only became really painful in the last few months. I was also told, at the outset, that I was bone-on-bone, but they're still making me jump through hoops without any commitment on their part to actual surgery. I just wanna play some more golf! Hope all goes well for you.
