I play a counter balanced driver shaft but not because of head weight. I’m not sure I could identify it has having a specific different feel, but it must. Because I swing it better. And that’s with two different CB shafts (different brands).

DonM Check to see balance points between the counter balanced driver and your other favorite non-counter balanced. That would be interesting info. Don. Also knowing playing length, shaft weight and head weight.

Try callaway preowned. Talk to a rep. Most, not all, are pretty know;edge able and can steer you to a similar shaft and head

FWIW your experience isn’t unusual at all. I have a friend who’s a low single digit, it he’s 61 and very long and not getting longer. He picked up yards with the triple diamond. I on the other hand couldn’t get it within shouting distance of my og sim. The older cally heads like the flas and rouge st have similar low spin heads

If you want to try a NV I think I have a couple new ones here, but I have heard good things about the Tensei orange.
As spinny as your drives are check your ball position. It sounds like you may be hitting down too much. Maybe getting the ball forward an inch or two with a taller tee might help you hit up on the ball a bit.

I was the same with sunglasses ( had a dozen or more pairs) , this will change when you need prescription which I went to 4 years ago ( $500-$600 a pair) . Now just 2 pair, one for Golf, one for fishn....Both Oakleys.

Golf shoes as well , I have 14 pair but generally only wear 3 of them. Speaking of which didnyou sell those FJ Pro SL ? They might be good for my bag in Phoenix ?

Otherwise, trying to sell, not buy ....but do buy a fair bit of vintage audio gear and am a sucker for 70's and 80's vinyl records

Weirfan I'm into sunglasses because I wore prescription, from 7th grade, until I was 40. I had lasik surgery in '06 & I'm still 20/20. I couldn't wear them until then. The Oakley bug hit in about 2016ish, when I gained access to much better than retail prices. I gave all my others, which were many, to my brother. I haven't bought any golf shoes in a long while. Burlington is a serious problem when it comes to shoes and T-shirts.

Straying off topic even more but I have considered Lasik but have a few folks I know who had bad results. It would sure be nice to get my vision back to where it was 10 years ago and avoid the costly outlay of cash for glasses and sunglasses every 2 years ( or sooner when I go and lose them )

LASIK in 2006 for me. Still seeing 20/20. Need readers for up close and cataracts are coming, tho.

Weirfan Same here, people might be shocked how many commercial pilots tried to get their eyes fixed and ruined them. Many with just 1 good eye, still have to wear glasses for a single eye.

The Air Force eventually allowed crewmembers to get their eyes fixed but a hard pass for me. In college, I had a nail go through 1 eye, never the same and required glasses. Plus, they couldn't get 2 stitches out, still have them and that part of my eye is very thin.

Weirfan positive results, far outway any negative. I've never heard of anybody having bad results, in my realm.

Friends I know that had Lasik all had success. I don't like glasses, but as long as I can see well with them I'll stay away from surgery.

I had Lasik many moons ago. First few years were great. After that everything went downhill quick. Within 5 years I had to go back to glasses.

Without glasses, I can't see crap. Plus the halo's at night make it more difficult to drive.

I may be one of the few, but I'd pass unless you don't have another option.

sdandrea1 Nope, a simple freak accident. Pulling something out of the wall, nail broke and flew into my eye. Old nail, rectangle-type shape. Luckily it had some speed, hit the back of the socket, and came back out. Lost eyesight for some time but was fixed by a senior Army ophthalmologist at Ft Rucker (Army helo pilot training)

21 yo, sitting alone in the hospital for a couple of weeks pondering if the AF was going to let me go on Active Duty with 1 eye and regretting not paying attention to school since I had a USAF pilot slot and 6 months from graduation. Ended up with a waiver from the AF and the rest was gravy.

I notice when I choke up on my driver I hit it better, but if I just use a shorter shaft I don't get the same results. Is this back weighting at work? I've thought of building a 48" driver and choking down 4" to see what happens

I see two camps arguing about this all the time. Some say choking down is the same as shortening the shaft and gripping at the end. I don't agree but I can't prove anything. I do think it is back weighting at work. A grip is 5 grams per inch. A shaft is a little bit. It's going to change the balance point and feel versus cutting the shaft.

Btw, my 1st pair of Oaks was the 1st Gen M-frames with blue iridium heaters that I had Oakley put in script inserts, in 1994. They were $375, back then. I couldn't wear them, my depth perception was all fucked up from the curvature of the lens. Oakley told me they would remake them, but I would have to keep them then. I couldn't roll the dice with $375 so I got contacts and regular blue iridium lenses and still couldn't wear them. Sold them to one of my buddies at a discount and never really wore sunglasses again until LASIK. I got a friends and family deal with a lifetime acuity, at the time. My next pair of Oakleys didn't come until my first Christmas in this house 2006. My wife bought me a pair of Chrome M frames with gray iridium heaters for Christmas that year and I still have them to this day.
