I think the write off part flew out the window, when CC flew in.
Team's worth have taken a huge jump, some as much a 5X since she came along pulling in fans. And anyone that thinks that would have happened if she had stayed at Iowa, well, they got to be Stevie Wonder relatives.
The new teams coming in now are much higher priced than even the Valkyries were. iirc
Now they need more write-offs, if that is why they invested originally.
Maybe that is something the players reps know.
I dislike unions myself. Was a member, and even a steward. Demands and wins can sometimes create huge unemployment situations....as I was part of. And I'm talking with huge companies, not something (supposedly) small like the WNBA. The ladies do need to be very careful if they want to play basketball.
Money is not everything. 😉
