sdandrea1 that is what I've been doing when I play my little executive course. I don't post scores there. I consider it practice, and will hit another ball.

DonM Sort of. They are going to calculate the differential for your score, then add a standard differential for golfers of your ability for 9 holes. If you shoot a 41 with a differential of 5.9, it’s going to show your round as a 41, not 80 something. But the differential is going to be say 12.3, not 5.9. So 9 hole rounds will count as much toward your index as 18 hole rounds. That is how I read it.

So do they take your 9 holes as your playing that day and extrapolate that to 18 or do they say, this guy is a ten so he'd likely score 42 on the back? In other words, I'm on fire and shoot 36 on the front (basically scratch let's say) do they figure I'll continue in that vein and give me another 36? Or do they say , he's a 10 so he'd likely shoot a 42 on the back for a 78 which would be like a 6 for the round?
I'm reading it that they will basically double your 9 hole differential? Yea, that's not good.

garyt1957 They are adding a second nine that is completely average for golfers of your ability so that whatever you shot on the actual nine is what determines the differential for that round. In effect they are converting it to an 18 hole equivalent.

sdandrea1 It’s a nothing burger. I don’t see any drawbacks from posting a nine hole round. It still reflects how you played. The part they are “adding” is neutral.

How about we apply this to the NFL? Nobody plays the second half. The 2 teams just play the first half and then math decides the outcome of the second half. Wouldn’t the Super Bowl be great🙄

It’s more like what if they played the first half today and another first half 6 weeks from now and it counts as one game. That’s how nines are treated now.

Lots of people play nine. This treats a nine hole round as a done deal and puts an end to the stupid combined scores.

DonM Well no, you play 9, it calculates /guesses at your remaining 9 and combines it for 18 holes. Like my “silly analogy”… you play the first half, you have a score, the nfl calculates the second half, now you have a final score.

Like Steve said, just don’t put in a 9 hole score. Combine them yourself. This way your handicap is based off of you actually playing golf.

That would be way off, most times. You would be inputting 2 scores off the same 9 holes.
I've never been to any course that would let you go out on the back 9 only.
