U of W first in. Who all you guys rooting for today? Bama fans here? Michigan looks legit. I haven’t watched any Georgia games this year but hoping for good...

Sneakylong Michael Penix looked good. He’s from the county I live in here in Florida, (Dade City) Pasco County.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him in a Patriots uniform.

At best, he will make a good backup QB in the NFL. Maybe a 2nd/3rd round pick.

The medicals at the combine are always significant for at least a few prospects each year, and Penix is one of those this year - he's had two torn ACLs in college, and has missed time with other injuries. He'll also be an older rookie, as he'll be 24 for the 2024 season (most of the players drafted will be two or three years younger), although this is less of an issue for quarterbacks.

That said, there are examples of players who were seriously injured in college having long and successful NFL careers - Frank Gore is probably the best example, as he also had two torn ACLs in college before going on to play for 16 seasons in the NFL.

Washington is ahead of them in the draft, as of right now. I'd bet they also want him. 😉
And no doubt there are others that need a QB.....ya think?

Par4QC Fields has the same skill set that Williams and Daniels have and he may even be a better dual threat. Can't see why the Bears would want either of them two in the draft unless they are just not on good terms with Fields.

Penix is like Tua. A very good passer with questionable durability. Wouldn't be gambling on his skill or development much, but a big gamble on whether he'll be able to play when needed.

They need to grab Harrison and control Fields' chickenheart. Also might just want to design a few better plays for passing. 🤔

I would not have bet on them at that point for sure. It made the ending dramatic and fun to watch.

Even if you would draft 4th, I doubt he'll still be around.
He can catch any QB. That makes him more valuable than a few of the QBs that are predicted to go high.

I didn't give the game my full attention but it seemed to me Alabama shot them self in the foot a lot with penalties. They were on a roll on the drive before Michigan tied it and it looked like they might put the game away but then came a big penalty that stopped that drive.

garyt1957 They did. Both teams had some pretty massive miscues throughout the game. But the Bama defense had shut out Michigan the whole second half and looked as though they made superior adjustments during half-time. But then on Michigan's last drive in regulation they just completely blew the coverage on two passes to the running back that yielded huge plays. Alabama did look like they figured out how to move the ball a bit, but one was stopped early with a Milroe fumble and the other by two horrible snaps from center that caused them to lose something like 26 yards. The center has probably been snapping something like 10 - 20 percent of the shotgun snaps down around Milroe's feet all season long, but apparently Bama could not come up with a better player to man that position and never got it fixed.

If the Bears decide that Fields is still their guy I don't see them staying in the #1 spot. They will trade it to someone who needs a QB. The Commanders need a QB and so does the Patriots. This is a QB driven league. No matter how good a receiver is if you need a QB you get a QB.

azgreg That's why, in an earlier post, I said the Bears can only trade with a couple teams, meaning #2 or 3 pick, who should be taking QBs....both picks should be, if it is NE & WA. It's the only trades they can make in order to secure Harrison, IF they are keeping Fields. And I think they will. They can keep him on short money, and he'll take it.
The Bears will not pass up QBs AND Harrison, while giving away the #1, and not keeping Fields. Not even they are that stupid.

Supposedly he’s the best thrower of the football of anyone coming out. Comparisons to Joe Burrow. He used to be a runner, but since the injuries not so much. Has great pocket awareness and can slide around in the pocket.

Yes the injuries are an issue. Has great upside. He passes my eye test. My first pick would be Williams, but I don’t think he’ll be there at # 3.

Par4QC If they keep Fields, I think they trade out of 1st, and lower than you think. Say Denver, Atlanta, LV. That gets them first round picks for 2024, 25, 26. Plus a lower pick and/or a starting center or something. Is Harrison worth that? I just don't see Poles turning down a huge return of future draft picks to take one great WR.

Then with their first pick they select the best WR available, because there are other good ones in the draft. Or the TE from Georgia.
Then with their second 1st rounder they select OT or Edge. I will not be shocked if they draft a high ceiling but project QB somewhere in the top 75 picks.

But, if Chicago doesn't take him, I think he is all yours. Chicago has picks 1 &10 right now. Of the 8 teams in between, at least 5(?) may be looking for a starting QB. AZ & NYJ are not. Draft day trading will probably set records.
