Usually a team that runs for 6+ yards per carry doesn't lose, but the Washington passing game is terrific. And the TX QB didn't have his best game.

Both Michigan and Washington damn near gave the games away at the end.

Michigan outplayed Alabama, but once they were down by 7 with 4 minutes to go they should have lost. But their game planning found a crack in Alabama's defense by revealing that the outside linebackers were not tracking the backs on receiving routes out of the backfield and were getting large plays when needed by putting backs in motion and throwing to them. Don't know why Alabama didn't correct this during halftime, but they didn't and Michigan was able to exploit it to the max on their last scoring drive. Alabama never found a way to throw the ball at all and couldn't score enough points in the end. I really thought, knowing they didn't pass well in the intermediate ranges in the regular season, that Bama would focus on that during the break, but they didn't. Michigan left the middle of the field wide open during the whole game and Bama never tried a pass to the middle that I can remember. Michigan had a better game plan.

I would not have bet on them at that point for sure. It made the ending dramatic and fun to watch.

I didn't give the game my full attention but it seemed to me Alabama shot them self in the foot a lot with penalties. They were on a roll on the drive before Michigan tied it and it looked like they might put the game away but then came a big penalty that stopped that drive.

There are much better.

Picking at #3(as of today), the Pats best choose wisely. More than likely will be having many talks with Chicago. As will Washington.

I just cannot see a team that is looking to build a future.....5-10 yrs., taking Penix with his history. Seasoned NFL defensive players are not college kids, when it comes to tackling.😉

The medicals at the combine are always significant for at least a few prospects each year, and Penix is one of those this year - he's had two torn ACLs in college, and has missed time with other injuries. He'll also be an older rookie, as he'll be 24 for the 2024 season (most of the players drafted will be two or three years younger), although this is less of an issue for quarterbacks.

That said, there are examples of players who were seriously injured in college having long and successful NFL careers - Frank Gore is probably the best example, as he also had two torn ACLs in college before going on to play for 16 seasons in the NFL.

If a team is otherwise ready to win, and they get 5 good years out of him, it could be a great pick. The draft is going to be super interesting.

Yes the injuries are an issue. Has great upside. He passes my eye test. My first pick would be Williams, but I don’t think he’ll be there at # 3.

Granted, he was dropping dimes in teacups last night, and farther than most QBs can even see. But, NFL receivers do not get that luxury. Credit where credit is due!!

With a couple repaired ACLs, and others body parts, he's not going to be running many times. So, not all that talented, imo. Ran 3 times last night, but imo, he had to make a showing for scouts.

I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the draft will prove me correct.

Washington is ahead of them in the draft, as of right now. I'd bet they also want him. 😉

Par4QC Fields has the same skill set that Williams and Daniels have and he may even be a better dual threat. Can't see why the Bears would want either of them two in the draft unless they are just not on good terms with Fields.

Penix is like Tua. A very good passer with questionable durability. Wouldn't be gambling on his skill or development much, but a big gamble on whether he'll be able to play when needed.

Even if you would draft 4th, I doubt he'll still be around.
He can catch any QB. That makes him more valuable than a few of the QBs that are predicted to go high.
