Just read the FSU Athletic Director’s skewering of the College Football Committee’s selections and the FSU snub…Wow…He pretty much didn’t hold back or mince words…

Could be some really good games! 4 good teams. I'd like to see Michigan / Washington to start a.new rivalry in the B1G....but if I'm putting down 💰, it's Texas / Bama in a rematch for all the marbles!

garyt1957 Good I hate Michigan

Always hated both Michigan and Texas. But I like quirky coaches and so now I'm conflicted since both of those teams' coaches are kind of weird. As always, I'll be rooting SEC, but I really won't mind the result no matter which team wins. I think Michigan is the most complete team, but with the worst game planning. I think Alabama and Texas are pretty equivalent, and I don't know what to think of Washington. I can't really gage PAC 12 teams because recent years have been all offense and no defense. Looking at their scores, some games still reflect that, and some indicate that maybe they do have some defense. If Harbaugh puts together the right game plans I think Michigan wins, but I'm hoping he doesn't. An x-factor is that Alabama's passing game still has significant room for improvement and they have a month to work on it.

johnnydoom just looking forward (as I always do) to watching some great football.
As I said before, will root for Mich only because their QB (JJ McCarthy) is a local kid and it would be nice to see a Midwest team win it. Would I bet money on them winning? No way.
Never have been a mich fan.

propman McCarthy is a very good QB and Michigan has the ability to spread the field offensively, which has been the best way to exploit the Alabama defense. However, Bama has been able to develop some very good young players in the defensive backfield and are much improved in that area just over the last 10 games. It should be a great game on paper.

johnnydoom I just hope Mich lets JJ fling it around a little more than he has during the season. His 2023 stats are solid but total yds is not that great.

Based on how Alabama dline performed against the run vs Georgia, methinks Mich will have to let JJ loose (somewhat).

johnnydoom Mich will need to be more balanced offensively to beat bama.
Something tells me Saban and his crew are gonna win this next one. Hope I'm wrong.

There are just too many bowl games. I'm a Minnesota Gopher fan but no five win team deserves to go to a bowl game
and I also don't think a team deserves to go to a bowl game just because their players have a decent grade point average.

mulegolf agree but if a matchup of 2 winless teams can make money, guess what, we have a new bowl game to watch on the boob tube.
Maybe call it " The Loser Bowl"😂

I attribute some blame to two non-Alabama teams for Florida St not being selected:

              1. Kentucky scoring 38 versus Louisville (6.1 yards per play), while Florida St struggled
              2. TCU. The committee couldn’t risk another 65-7 game.
Note: Vegas has set Georgia as 12 point favorites. Provided no major sit-outs by Georgia, I think this number will go up

Interesting, to me anyway, is that there would have been a 12 team playoff this year, had it not been for delay (tactics?) caused by the “alliance” created between the Big 10, PAC 12, and ACC. Oops.

mulegolf There are just too many bowl games.

                100%

Participation Trophies for half the schools with the stands empty.

And the NCAA has yet to issue their penalties on Michigan for:

                1) Harbaugh not participating in the recruiting violation investigation. The investigation showed no major violations so why did Harbaugh not cooperate? Not a good look.
                2) "Steal Gate"

If Michigan wins the national title and the NCAA imposes penalties for "Steal Gate", will an asterisks be placed by Michigan's name. Ex: Houston Astros / Asterisks?

mulegolf There are just too many bowl games.

Not true. Even though most of them mean jack squat I'm watching them and as a fan I'd like to watch more.

I think the powers that be went with Alabama because they draw more interest. Plus FSU is playing their 3rd string QB.
