Custom ferrules....like 'em, hate 'em, or indifferent?

What do you think about any color other than plain black for ferrules? Is it interesting and fun, or pretentious, or stupid? What do you think?

I don't mind a little 'bling' with the ferrules. However, they can't be too busy. I like clean, elegant, simple. Plain black works for factory jobs. I like a little something, it just has to look good, and not be ostentatious or gaudy. If I'm color matching, then they have to match something on the head, or shaft. Then they will be Plain solid color, maybe have a black stripe.

full set. It seemed like ALL the companies had longer ferrules with colorful rings at the time......

I used to prefer just plain black or maybe with white or silver ring(s), but I have seen some pics of cool builds lately with unique ferrules and I may have to spice up my next build.

What is sad is I am one of the younger members on this forum, yet feel like I am one of the crustiest old curmudgeons most of the time. Simple black for me, if an OEM build has a few white or silver rings I can live with it (Cleveland ferrules with the white rings used to drive me nuts for some reason). Nearly all of the builds I see with the BB&F ferrules look hideous to my eye, almost like someone barfed after eating a huge bag of skittles...but if you like them that is all that matters. It would be a cold day in hell that I would be spending upwards of $40 for a set of ferrules, I'll stick with the black ones from Grail Golf.

They are always way onto gaudy and overdone.

Yup… fruity assed shit. Save it for Flag fuckin Football … It’s like painting unicorns and putting ribbons on your hockey gloves.

It limits the resale opportunities. I look at iron sets all the time and as soon as I see that crap I shake my head in disgust.

Love a good, classy ferrule.... maybe not the more outrageous designs from places like BB&F, though I'm guilty of having bought one of their sets for a build that never happened.

What do you do with aluminum ferrules if the fit isn't perfect, can you turn them down at all? Yours look to fit perfectly.

I just measure the OD of the hosel with my calipers and hope the OD they give for
ferrules is accurate.....the ferrules are anodized aluminum so you probably can't sand
too much off of them.

My thought was how do you pull a graphite shaft with the aluminum ferrule? Do you push against the top of the ferrule?

Still too busy for my eye, but those are much more acceptable (looks and pricewise) than what I initially thought the OP was referring to (BB&F type colors). Still twice the cost of classic black.
