I played Recoil 110 graphite in my irons 2016-2021 and I liked it a lot. I wasn't having much elbow issues, but I had surgery on my right wrist years ago that still bothers me and the graphite helped. I got fitted for new irons again and went with the stock DG105 with VSS (new Sensicore) as I felt I didn't really need the graphite.

I'm ready to go back to graphite though. Most of the time I'm fine, but there are times where I hit off the mats or I get too steep on some shots and I haven't found a steel shaft (even with Prosoft) that dampens shock as well as graphite. I still want it heavier though so it's got to be over 100g.

I have been debating the same thing. I have Steelfiber 125s in my irons, I don’t like them much to be honest. They are “ok”, but I do like the crispy snap and balance of virtually all steel shafts vs these ones. I am tempted to go back to steel, but I recall all the elbow pain and get REAL hesitant, real quick.

The real PITA for me is finding a heavy graphite with a profile that works for me and isn’t $50+ a shaft. I need to snag a couple of the Logical One shafts to give a run, the price and weight is appealing, yet to verify if the profile is a fit for my swing.

I have installed those Prosoft inserts in steel shafts for a few friends. They love it. really helps with the shock

DG 105 is a good shaft. Do you think it was the 130 gram weight of the s300 shaft that you liked? If you think it was the 130 gram weight but like the DG profile and think the 105 is still too light, try the Dynamic Gold 120… it’s 114 grams and has the same profile as the heavier s300.

Finding heavy graphite is tough.

Stay away from the ctaper unless it’s the ctaper lite. The OG ctaper migh be tough on the hands and elbows. Also spins low and launches low.

I remember several years ago I was on the Mizuno shaft optimizer. It recommended heavy stiff steel. 🙄 I said that was a no go because of my elbows. They then recommended heavy stiff graphite. No go as well.

I ended up buying a set of Ping G15 irons with regular stock graphite. Played them for several years and shot my best score ever (par 71) at Fox Hollow.

Oh and they also recommended 1 and 1/2 inch over length and 4.5 degrees upright. Went with Pings color chart for height and arm length (green dot 2 up and standard length) instead and never looked back.

So basically I fit myself.

I think of 80 gram shafts as light. Typhoon is He-Man, he thinks 200 grams is light.

Par4QC None of those shafts are over 95 grams. Heavy graphite like 113-120 grams is where there are not many options.

Kinetixx is one that goes into that weight range. You liked the velocity so maybe you’d like their iron shafts but they’re pretty dang proud of em.

Xcaliber is just under that weight with their Rapid Taper. The R+ flex 105 shaft could fit you nicely. It’ll deliver that nice kick you like.

The MMT 125 I thought I’d like ended up being too too heavy and didn’t like it. I had the ctaper 125 for a while and loved it. Just needed the speed and launch for it. I just knew it wasn’t the right fit for me.

Like Braveheart’s link… heavier keeps it on plane better. If I go too light the tip ends up being too soft in addition to the transition issue

As long as the tip is stiff in that weight. I tried the Modus 105 in my Pings and get a lot of high and right shots. Flight was too high and spinny. The MMT 105 I’ve demo’d but I’m not sure… they are tip stiff which is nice but also tip heavy which feels odd. He DG 105 steel I hit suprised me. It’s what made me realize that a tip stiff 105 would be fine with me.

I built a test 9 iron with DG 105 r300. I tried it several times on the course today, and it really worked. I was finding the middle a lot better, and the dispersion was a lot tighter than my normal 65 gram graphite. I guess I’ll pony up the $37 apiece and order 3 more for 8 iron and two wedges. 😑
I’m not going to waste money trying to find cheap alternatives, because I’ve already tried them before anyway.

The last time I played steel, maybe 5 years ago, it was harder to keep a grooved swing throughout the bag. But my short irons have to improve or else.

OP - What a great feeling strike is a forged Maltby TS3 launching a ProV1 (or equivalent). It is hard to
justify spending $$$ for the high-end forged OEMs. 🏌

Eguller I think the TS3, TS1-IM and KE4 Max are awesome irons. TS1 and TS2 are nice, but the other 3 are special IMO.
