How Sensitive are You to Grip Size?

Since 3 wraps is close to midsize and I like the midsize on the TW I’d go with that. No sense in wearing 4 pairs of socks to make your shoes fit.

I am not super sensitive to it either. I have a mix of standard and midsize in my bag. The standards have a couple wraps. Too thin and I lose control. Love the feel of midsize but never seem to commit to just that. Never have figured out if one or the other affects a tendency or deviation unless it’s an extreme either way.

I remember a news story years ago about KJ Choi was trying some irons on the range. They were either new or just regripped. He told them that one of the grips didn't feel "right" and he told them which club it was on. They removed all of the grips and all weighed 60 grams and the one that didn't feel right weighed 62 grams.

I stopped trying to turn standard grips into midsize grips and now I buy midsize grips. All midsize grips are not created equally.

Short stubby fingers here. Anything fatter than standard seems to reduce my hand action - whether that is physical or psychological I cannot say. I could probably get used to midsize if I tried though.

I wear an XXL golf glove....big hands with long fingers, so standard size grips feel like pencils to me. Through trial and error, I have settled on Karma Super Lite Jumbo grips for my full swing clubs. They're +3/32", have a rib going down the bottom, and weigh only 59 grams.

For my wedges I use Lamkin Crossline Jumobos, which are +1/8" and weigh 76 grams, but the weight seems to work
well with the heavier wedge heads. Unfortunately these companies change styles and specs every couple of years or so, so I suppose I oughta stockpile a few extras of both.....

I can use either standard or mid size, not 'over size'. This summer I have been experimenting with/using a mid size on just my driver and have found I've been hitting a very high % of FWs; almost all in fact. I haven't switched grips on any irons yet as they are all new and I'm not for wasting that much money. I'll go that route next season though. I did have 1 set that came with mids, but have parted ways with them. They did have me hitting the ball on a straight line, rather than going left when not expected.

Be wary of the weight diff when going to larger size grips. Esp. when changing your putter grip.😉

Par4QC Back when I was fit for my M2 driver my fitter measured my hand using Golf Pride’s chart. I am not a big person and figured I was standard. I was suprised to see the wrist crease to tip of my index finger has me at the low end of midsize. So I could also gp 3 wraps.

I have to admit it feels much better. Just rough to commit to it after years of standard size.

To clarify, the ones I had on the iron set were the mid size +4 GP grips(less taper). They were fine but I prefer the 'standard' mid size such as the GP Align or a 360. Depending on butt size & grip brand, I may add a wrap or 2 on the bottom.

Fatter grips are better for me. I used midsize my whole life until about maybe five years ago, when I switched to jumbo.

Now I really don't like using any club other than driver or three wood without jumbo grips.

I have been thinking about going up to the Jumbomax grips the next time I regrip my clubs. I hit the ball a lot straighter with the large grips.

rsvman2 one of our members has jumbo grips and I tried hitting his driver once or twice. Really weird, had no feel for the head because the grip was so heavy and too big for my hands. Ball goes high right and nowhere .

Typhoon my experience is the same. 40 years of standard hard to break. I have pretty good sized hands. Midsize feels great until I put them into play. I already bought midsize grips to switch out after this season. I’ll have all off season to get used to them

I may have to try midsized grips. If I wear a glove, Callaway has me at large, Titleist has me about XL.

Walterjn You should definitely be in midsize at least with that hand size.

Wear a medium / large glove. I've been using the GP MCC plus 4 for several years. Tried a medium grip on my driver once and didn't like it. I could play a standard size with more taper no problem.

Sneakylong I have jumbos on all my irons but use midsize on my driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood.

Thing is we get used to learning with standard grips, demo clubs that all have standard grips, buy used clubs that have standard grips. You just never think that the grip could be a poor fit for you.

Typhoon exactly what I've been doing so far... I'll be investing in midsized grips when I go to regrip my irons, probably later this year.
