The problem for QBs drafted first overall is that there's usually at least one very good reason that the team has that pick, and it's usually related to the (lack of) talent on the roster...
(OK, the situation in Carolina is a little bit different as they traded up to acquire the pick, but having a receiver like D.J. Moore to throw to would make the transition to the NFL a bit easier for Bryce Young. It's also going to be significantly harder to upgrade the talent around Young, at receiver and on the offensive line in particular, without those picks that the Panthers traded away.)
