Ha! Yeah, I can see the potential excitement.
First club I tried was an old Tommy Armour. Trying the air on that grip did nothing. Very old grip, no surprise. So I cut that one off, and used the air gun to install a new grip. Was a little tricky, as I still want to grab the grip and slide it on. That doesn't work with air, you have to push from the back. But it went on easy enough.
Then I pulled grips off of newish PXG hybrids. Those were easy. At about 50 psi, the grips slid off, no ballooning at all.
Then I went for my new Wilson Staff irons. Had to get up to about 65 psi for the grip to start to loosen, but still wouldn't get the last inch loose so the grip started to inflate. So I released the trigger stopping the air, and just squeezed the bubble a bit working the air down the grip. Stuck a little screwdriver under the grip end far enough to get the bubble to air out. Then just went to 1 second shots of air while twisting the grip, and that got the last couple of inches off.
Need to go find one of those clear Lexan tubes that Rickochet has, that sounds perfect.
