Clubmaking Question

So I have a set of Wedgewood hybrid irons I'm thinking of putting into play. I found out they're .335 tip which kind of ruins my plans for using some iron shafts I have lying around.
So how would you tip .335 shafts to fit hybrids at traditional iron length, maybe an inch longer? I had planned to weigh them and just tip to the appropriate iron weight but not sure how to go about it with driver shafts. Haven't taken them apart yet so I can't weigh them, want to get a round in as is, but assume they are heavier than a normal iron. Would cutting them down so much stiffen them enough to just insert untipped? Any help appreciated

And now that I think about it, will I even be able to get a grip on them if I cut them down that much?

garyt1957 order some/find some Wishon Hybrid shafts, they will have enough PTS to tip for iron weights. I have a project with their s2s black hybrid shafts ...to go in an iron set/shimming that i have not got around to yet.

Alternative idea.
Ream them to .370. It takes 3 reamer bits to do it right. I can give you the sizes if you are interested. I think they cost about $20-25 apiece but maybe less from the right internet source. I realize that makes it a lot more expensive of a project, but it's one time expense and then you can use whatever shafts you want.

Or take/send them to a good clubmaking shop who can ream them.
I did this with some Adams hybrids, and it worked out great. I'd be shocked if there isn't enough metal to safely make the hole .035 larger.

After you take them apart (assuming you don’t play well enough with them to keep them as is) weigh them and compare them to WOOD weight heads. My guess is you will be in 7 or 9 wood territory and then trim accordingly.

What flex are you planning on using?

Taki27 Agreed. I always fall back at weight when you don't have much to go by. You might have to factor playing length as well.

Probably R flex, maybe A depending on how they feels as is, they're currently A.

Probably more than I want to bother with. But I have a nephew that works in a design shop. He may have the ability to do it.

Yes, Wishon sells .335 hybrid shafts. I would NOT ream them. You'd lose the benefit of .335 shaft launch characteristics. I built a FrankenHybrid using a HOF wood shaft and a Cobra 29* hybrid head. I love it!

Took these out Thursday and they worked really well, although they are quite short to the corresponding irons. They are old school lofts, the 6H is 30* but even still they're short. I hit the 7H 125 which is what I normally hit my current 9 iron. It's just a number, right? Don't know if I'll stick with them but I just needed something new to look at.
