Sneakylong So it's more of a good old boy network type of thing.

The 'clique'.

They all talk about 'representing our country' when it comes to these get togethers. No money(🀣), just pride.
F'N bullshit!!

If it's about representing our country, why were the ones picked just from those playing for/on the PGA Tour? And we can all agree, those 6 'picks' are not the best of our country's players.

"This kid can't shoot a gun very straight, and sometimes has trouble knowing where to shoot, or when to pull the pin, but damn, he is great in the barracks with the other fellas......let's send him to war!" The PGA Army!!

The points system has to go. Or at least make it an automatic 12, no 'picks', for the favoritisms. That is playgound bullying!!

Most of Johnson's picks are reasonable and explainable, particularly when looking at form and playing ability, but (as I see it) it is hard to justify Thomas being selected over some of the other possibilities. Yes, he has a good record in the event, and may be great in the team room, but would the team benefit more from one of the others in contention, who are all playing better golf right now? In my opinion, Bradley would have been a better fit, particularly as he could potentially fit into the Reed/Poulter role - the guy that the other side really don't like, but will find a way to pull off the shot that counts when it means the most.

    Par4QC The 'clique'.

From the article, it appears Bible thumpers and buddies trump all, and only the Top 6 automatics have a say, which will keep that wheel spinning.
Nothing will change anytime soon, unless they pick a captain with some balls.

Spuzz unless they pick a captain with some balls.

Does that leave Stewart out.....he some problems with them a few years ago.
And, they just set him up for '25.

Par4QC Does that leave Stewart out

        Yes.
I checked the Ryder Cup playing records of all the "management" and lo and behold, every one of them has a losing record except for Zach and he's barely above .500.
Might explain why they picked guys with losing records on this team?
Do losers recognize game? or is this all about hanging out with like minded people?
        LOL

Spuzz playing records of all the "management" and lo and behold, every one of them has a losing record

So, that means TW is up in '25. πŸ˜„

johnnydoom I'm cynical, but I think the tour sponsors have great sway in helping the captain make his picks.

This is more believable than buying into first timers Clark and Harman having any say whatsoever.

"Now, the 12 man US Team is all set to make their mark in Rome and defend their Ryder Cup title against an equally strong European Team."

Scene from the team room, right after the RC. Somehow, Keegan slipped in.......

Sneakylong whole heartedly agree. Thomas was a weak pick. ZJ must be thinking he will find something being on the team. It would have been a tough choice between Glover and Bradley over JT/or for the last spot, as well as to pick both and leave out Spieth. IMO Spieth and JT go together/were a package deal.

ode Prolly true, but Speith has been unreliable, too.

Bryson and Bradley, Glover and Bradley, or Glover and Bryson, are all superior to Speith and Thomas, imo.

Maybe they are biased against people who use strange putters. That’s probably it.
