Par4QC Yet, all anyone could talk about was the audio quality of Sunday’s final round on NBC, with viewers distracted by a mysterious buzzing that never stopped.
The humming sound picked up by NBC’s microphones could have been a generator (television towers tend to require a lot of electricity), though others suspect the culprit was nearby air traffic from LAX.
It’s a shame Clark’s coronation was spoiled by poor audio, making for a frustrating viewing experience. Call it an occupational hazard of staging a major tournament in the heart of America’s second-largest city.

Rex, you have mentioned that your hearing is really poor, so the constant humming noise doesn't bother you. And it is not just with the US Open. It is a constant issue when Golf Channel/NBC broadcast a tournament.

I still would not listen to those idiot's drivel with perfect hearing.

I did like hearing Pat(any sport), Ray(NFL), and in golf, Renton Laidlaw of the European Tour broadcasts.
Anyone now is just a 'voice', and most are, apparently, disturbing to those listening in......sampling from this forum and others.
And most got no clue about the sport they broadcast.
I'm missing nothing. 😉

garyt1957 We may have to agree to disagree. A shot that is right at the flag and maybe one yard short of the intended landing spot is a much better shot than the typical unplayable bush or deep rough lie, which you earn by hitting your approach shot or tee shot 20 yards offline.

I enjoy listening to the pga radio, I think that radio commentary is far better than TV commentary. The radio guys have to describe everything for their listeners. The TV guys just try to hash out what you have seen and try to sound like theybare making a difference.
