Yeah so can I and if you’re in this type of business you shouldn’t have that attitude. Especially when you’re dealing with the customer who isn’t truly tearing things up.

I run a Twitter account @UpandDown4Bogey where I occasionally post some “Deep Swing Thoughts,” a golf related rip off of the SNL Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy skits from 90s. My “most liked” Deep Swing Thought is on point!

If a guy between 30 and 50 is golfing alone before 9 on a Saturday, do not ask if he wants to join your group or pair up. This is a dad who only has 2 hours a week to play 9 holes. Just leave him be to his sad little slice of solitude; it’s all he has left.

Jelopster It's their game the golf course not yours. You as a private entity are free to do whatever you please if they the course don't want you hitting 2 balls that's their rules. You are free to go to another course that allows 2 ball play.

If it's me I'd just go when it's dead if time is of the essence. But I probably would prefer to join another as 4 eyes are better than 2 plus the interaction of meeting another new to me player is the way I roll.

Jelopster BTW, I think most of us have been in your shoes, Dad's with a lot of responsibilities and lil time to play the game we love. So, I think we all get where you are coming from. I used to be a range rat hit a small bucket everyday 30 mins. working on swing and impact. I got to the point that I hit range ball very infrequently rather play the game than hit balls. Play and walk 9 with my senior buddies but we are in a different situation and time in our lives. Sadly the popularity during/after Covid has put a lot of golfers out there that have no idea about pace of play and putting "the greater good" ahead of themselves.

scotts33 yeah I’m fortunate that this 9 holer is usually pretty wide open on Saturday mornings. I can leave my house, walk 9, and be home in 2 hrs total. Home just in time for whatever activity the kids have going they day.

This is the key! There was no reason to pair anyone up or group players together. They will do that if it’s busy but there were only 4-5 groups on the course, probably a total of 9 golfers. This place is a hidden gem! (Until July/August when the Hershey Park tourists hit town!)

Related, we had our local muni 9 maintenance guy go out and kick off the course a golfer that came off the street didn't pay for range balls or pay greens fees. Go out on a par 5 green side bunker and hit sand shots out of the par 5 bunker on to the green leaving pitch marks probably 20 or 30 and the marks were not repaired. Not deep marks but enough to make the green not as good as it should be. Maintenance guy saw that and out he went......."what the heck do you think you're doing?"....kicked the guy off the course. 😁
