@Typhoon
I'm booked for a driver fitting at our course. TM is coming to do a 4 hour session so why not.
My question is, what do you do when the range uses limited distance balls? I've been told we do that because our range is only 250 yards deep. Do you know that ahead of time so you can juice up the settings, or what?

Actually I only care if it outperforms my M4, so the numbers are relative. But I know you must be doing some adjustment in this situation, right?

5 days later

I had my fitting today and could not beat my M4 10.5 set at 11.25, with Atmos Red.
I thought I was going to get all the data but I only got the final club's data.
From memory, he tried:
12d Stealth2 with Fuji Speeder NX Red 50 R flex or maybe A
10.5 Stealth2 HD (draw) maybe with above shaft
10.5 Stealth2 Plus with Mitsubishi Kai'li Red R flex
12d with Ventus TR red A flex

The last one was his recommendation. I did see my SS at one point, was only 84. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Ball speeds were only getting into the low 120s to 125. I asked him if he normalized the Trackman for the range balls and he said he did the best he could. He couldn't find our range ball type in the system.

The Stealth2 was definitely lower spinning than my M4. My M4 was in the 2900s and the 12d S2 was in the 2100s. The best single drive from the 12d Stealth2 was:
125 BS
10.6 LA
28.9 descent angle
2710 spin (highest of the batch)
16.7 yds peak height
183 carry
That was the best. Average of several shots was not that good.
I think the range balls fly a lot lower than my shots on course. Whatever, it was what it was.

I think the 12 head on my shaft might be good, but we didn't try that. As it was, the recommended one was showing less carry on average than my M4. By over 10 yards . That didn't stop him from trying to talk me into ordering it. 🙃

Honestly I was having a lot more trouble than I thought I would with the standard grip size. I hit more hooks in 20 minutes than I see in 10 rounds.

with a SS of 84, what were you looking for ?

      DonM Just saw that.

Nice min. wage fitter you had there.

That’s a low peak height. Normalize is basically a button, probably like the link I sent you. You don’t find a certain range ball. Only thing I can think of is there is nothing in there for limited flight balls…. Just plain range balls.

But whatever on that because you did the smart thing and had your M4. So if you noticed you hit that low, then you weren’t suprised by a low shot with the Stealth. 2100 spin is not enough for your ball speed. 2900 at least…. That’s why your carry distance suffered.

I would have tried the Atmos shaft in the Stealth2 head…. Because… of the grip size. My gripe with our demo shafts is they all have one wrap of practically see through grip tape. They’re too skinny. I wish we had a couple of the more popular shafts with midsize grips as well as standard.

So if you hit the Stealth2 head with the Atmos shaft with the bigger grip and showed improvement over the M4 then there is something that could be a selling point.

FWIW, I’ve had people who hit their own better and I don’t push them into a new club. I know it’s a lot of money for something that I can’t prove will help them.

Thanks! I’m on the same page as you on the spin. If it had been 3300 then I’d be looking for less. But upper 2s is good for me.

If the pro shop gets a demo in their hands, I’ll borrow it and try it on my shaft.
