Jelopster @Par4QC won’t need to ruin a saw blade to find out!
Nope, not happening with these.
1st impression......f'n nice looking irons heads!!
With the exception of 1, the heads came in spec for weight.(+1g)
With the exception of 2, the heads came in spec for loft/lie.( lofts were perfect, lie -1)
They were bendable, but a big fella had to 'lean' on them to move 1- 2* down, so be warned.
I'm anal, as we all know. So when I check heads, I look in the bore 1st thing. Jeez, I hate to see rust. NONE, in any of these!!
Lofts are 'modern'...re: strong(to a point).
The heads are not the size of TM 790, they are a bit longer heel-toe, more like the newer Ping irons.
And damn, is that topline thick. But on course, I never paid that much attention to that aspect, I look at the face/ball. So, not a problem, for me anyway.
Leading edge is slightly rounded, as I like; not a flat sole with a sharp edge at all.
Shafts are KBS Tour V 90 Black, R, but tipped 1/4 more.
Grips are Lamkin Crossline 360, black/red endcaps.
Ferrules are from BB&F.😲
I had intentions of building these differently than I've done other irons, but the extra 1/4" I took from the tip, put me right on a 'standard' build of 6i @ 37.5(inc. grip). So, 1/2" increments.
I normally use 265 as a standard for a 6i, and build all my irons in such manner. The 6i in this set was(spec) 260. Normally I would add weight and go forward, but intended to build these as 'modern'...+1/4-3/8. I only discovered the mistake of "tipping screwed the build" after assembling shafts/heads. So, got a light swingweight, maybe around C9-D0. And that's a lot lighter than I normally play, even at my age. (F U 😅).
But with those BB&F ferrules, pulling/redoing was not a thought.
I didn't want to do a review of these because I didn't want Mike to jump my ass about my comments.
And he won't!!
Hollow body/goo juice.....no clunking/tinging/BS. The only bad feedback was from those damn shafts, and overall weight of irons. Even after tipping the extra, the shafts still flexed too much for me and I'm sure that took away some yardages. But, I did get my normal from these heads, comparable to my Apex 21(but not quite).
I did hit the 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, which I normally do not do. Distance gaps were fine as far as my swing goes.
I hit them fairly well center, so no info on any 'forgiveness'.
Can't say a lot about launch either due to those shafts. They added some height I've never seen from my swing before. Too much, imo.
So, nothing much to dislike from them. And I can be 1 particular SOB, on given days.
BTW....they did contribute to my 'almost S-M-A' today........73.
(Ok Mike...there it is. I'll send my PP addy later. 🤣)
