Been watching it a bit on Masters.com. Tiger needs to hit it closer if he's going to putt that badly.

I've just watched the honorary starters getting things under way, and that got me thinking about who may be asked to perform this duty in the future - maybe not as straightforward as it has been in the past, with Palmer, Nicklaus, Player and Watson all having more than enough success in the Masters and in the other majors to be deserving of the honour. Other than Faldo (3 Masters, 6 majors), it seems to me that there aren't all that many obvious candidates until you get to Woods - a few with multiple Masters but no other majors (Crenshaw, Langer, Olazabal), and others who were among the top players at their peak but without a victory at Augusta (Els and Norman are the two that come most easily to mind here).

Any thoughts on this?

Langer for sure and likely Faldo, if he doesn't put his foot in his mouth.
Maybe Sandy Lyle, since it's taken him a long time to quit.

Three names come to my mind:

Charles Coody....he won in 1971, making him the guy who won longest ago besides
Player and Nicklaus.

Ben Crenshaw....I would think Crenshaw would be a natural, since he already "presides" over the Champions'
Dinner, and loves the Masters and its history.

Then Larry Mize....he was a local guy, born in Augusta, volunteered at Augusta as a kid, is about ready
to hang 'em up.

Hard to say who Augusta will tap when the time comes....of course, these are just my opinions.....they haven't
consulted me lately, LOL...!!!

A few years away from Bubba being in consideration as an honorary starter, I think (although he's likely to be a fairly strong candidate in 25 or 30 years time). That said, I wasn't really thinking about anyone (other than Woods) who's still playing at a reasonably high level on the non-senior tours.

He has done this before ( as has Langer) they typically fade and with the weather turning frigid, wet and windy not gonna be good on the old guys.

Old Man Weir had a good day, missed 3 short putts ( yes that's ANGC) or could have been better.

That’s Michael Collins who was a stand up comedian, PGA Tour Caddie, had his own Sirius XM PGA Tour radio show with Pat Perez and works for ESPN.
