sdandrea1 I did go for some medical attention. By the time I got into see the doctor, I had been putting pressure on it for about two hours and it was clotting. It was just seeping blood a bit by then. The doctor told the nurse to give me a tetanus shot, clean the thing up, and put a butterfly bandage on it. She did that and I said, "Why's this thing getting so hard." She says, "What do you mean hard? It shouldn't be doing anything. Let me take a look." Turns out that when she cleaned it, the clot opened up so it was bleeding under the skin. She took the bandage off and about 5-foot stream of blood shot over her shoulder, and the 6 X 10" piece of gauze she had under my hand turned red in about two seconds. She says, "I think I better get the doctor back here." That's when they realized I had severed the artery. I have been back twice since then and they just keep saying, "Well, just leave it. We can't do anything about it except hope it heals."
(Sorry for the threadjack, Ode. I'll stop now.)
