Need help deciding

Turning 40 this year and my wife has been telling me I should buy myself something I want bc we never really do. Not that we can't afford it, we're both just so cheap 🤣.

The only thing I would wanna go for is a new set of irons. I have a line on a set of Titleist T300s and also a set of P790s for about the same price. I've hit them both and like them both. And, being an indecisive cheapo, I need help deciding.

Help me out, guys!

If you like the way they both feel, go with the better looking set?
If it were me, I'd go Titleist. They're distinguished and timeless. They make a statement. TM to me, just says "distance". Titleist says "golf". 😉

sdandrea1 I'm going to say there is quite a gap in quality between those 2 brands, imo. And I agree, I'd go with the Titleist. I was lusting after them myself all last summer myself.
Only ever had 1 set of Titleist heads and they were absolutely perfect specs, head to head. I had to get rid of them fast....way too good for me. I've also had a few sets of TM irons, and QC is 'kinda off', let's say.😒

Over 25 years or so in club assembly and repair. OEM that I've had to repair the MOST = TaylorMade. OEM that I've NEVER repaired = Titleist.

Contrarian point - kinda. I have a set of TM p790 irons and really like them. You may not remember, but I went through 4 sets before they built them just right and on spec. I’ve played about 15-20 rounds and a bad shot is on me. So…. Hit them both and you can’t make a bad choice IMO.
Oh, the only counterfeit OEMs I’ve seen personally were Titleist, so be attentive to that.

The Titleists are really strong lofts, probably like a fountain of youth. 🤓

I’d buy whatever looks good to your eye. The p790 is a distance iron same as the T300. Golf snobs seem to think they are impressing people with Titleist. I don’t see that in any other brand. Go with whatever looks best and feels the best. These companies always stand behind their product so I wouldn’t worry about that.

I like the look of the Titleist best, so it seems they will win. I just didn't know if there was anything about either set, good or bad, that I hadn't heard about.

Buying from a reputable store, so not worried about counterfeit.
