Torn Retina

Anybody ever dealt with this?
Had laser surgery last week and Dr. said the symptoms should go away in a few days.
Well it's been about a week now and I'm still seeing tiny black specks and a floating spider web in my
right eye every time I move my eye right to left.

You had scheduled for a post surgery evaluation , didn't you ?
Let's hope that your healing is slower than predicted by your surgeon.

The floating black specs are pretty normal for older folks I think. I have several, but I don't notice them unless I am staring at something white. The spider web thing, that may be from a torn retina.

I have two eyes full of floaters. It's a result of PVD or Posterior Vitreous Detachment. Old man thing and my gift for life. Yours may be just leftover from the surgery.

Buddy of mine has had that on both eyes. Surgery both times, the first was much worse than the second, but he has recovered nicely on both occasions.

He still has floaters in the recently repaired eye, which was repaired right around Christmas.

Well that's good to hear!
It's been over a week now since the laser surgery,no change at all.
The floater specks and spider webs are more annoying than anything,
they kind of mess with my peripheral vision on the right side BIG time.
Oh well,I'll see the Dr. at the end of the month and go from there.

My golf game was suckin' anyway,just have a better excuse to not play now! 😉

Those floaters keep me entertained after a few beers.

Had a tear in my retina 2015. Had Laser surgery on it and the floaters went away but I don't remember how long it took. However about three months later I had that eye start to hemorrhage again. The retina was trying to detach again. I had in hospital surgery. This fixed the problem but it created another one. It exacerbated my cataract in that eye and I had to have surgery once again in hospital to remove that problem. My eye sight drastically improved after the surgery. Unfortunately just last month the right eye seems to have another cataract and I am going to my eye doctor Tuesday to have him look at it and I am assuming I will be having another surgery on that poor eye. The only good thing is the right eye has always been my worst eye and after the cataract surgery my vision has been the best it has been in many years.

Probably not, however when I had the first laser surgery I was told that there were several things that could happen after the initial surgery. After the second one they also told me it could effect my cataracts and of course there are other bad things as well. It really is not as bad as it sounds. But before I had the first surgery I had Abdominal aorta aneurysm surgery to repair a weak area in the aorta. 2015 was a very long and hard year for me. I had not had surgery of any kind since my tonsils were taken out in 1951, Hopefully I got it all in that one year.

I've been lucky enough that I haven't suffered a torn retina but I did have cataract surgery on both eyes. In both instances I also had black "floaters" after the surgery. In one eye it went away in about a week and a half. In the other eye, I still have what looks like a thread, about 1/4" to 3/8" long floating across my vision. I don't see it unless there is a very light colored background (white, lite grey, lite blue, etc). It's been about 15 months since that surgery. The Dr. says it's possible that I may always have it... or it may still go away in time. It seems to become more noticeable after I've done something more strenuous, like shoveling snow. It's just another example of the "golden years."

Yeah I know what you about the "golden years"!
I asked the Dr. what might have caused this,as it happened right after I was was welding an aluminum
roll cage for one my RC cars.
He goes nope,"too many birthdays"!🙁

Yep I still have one that is constant and my Dr also said it may never go away. It does not bother me most of the time, but it does once or twice a day at least.
