I joined a PGA Tour pool at my club. The golfers are divided into five tiers which appear to be grouped by odds although the odds per se are not listed. Tier 1 is the best players, and so on. We pick 3 in the 1st, then 3, 2, 1, 1.
We are measured by the players money winnings that week.

So here is my first week's picks, for the Sony Open. I think I remember that this course is a ballstriker's course, not a bomber's? I tended to go with past winners and runners up, figuring at least they can make the cut. πŸ™‚
Any given week, if you have anybody you like, tell me why. Including this week.

Your picks for the Sony Open are:

  1. Hideki Matsuyama (Tier 1)
  2. Russell Henley (Tier 1)
  3. Andrew Putnam (Tier 1)
  4. Denny McCarthy (Tier 2)
  5. Chris Kirk (Tier 2)
  6. Webb Simpson (Tier 2)
  7. Adam Schenk (Tier 3)
  8. Patton Kizzire (Tier 3)
  9. Danny Lee (Tier 4)
  10. Jimmy Walker (Tier 5)

I picked Schenk in honor of my avatar here. It's probably good that Hack and Yip are not playing.

Russel Henley. He won the Sony in 2013. We were there that week, but didn't go to the tournament.

Jimmy walker is probably a poor choice? He’s probably only there because of post status.

DonM Jimmy walker is probably a poor choice?

Yes it is. He has lost his mojo.
Hideki is also a so-so choice. He is nowhere near the form he was in when he won there.

    Take Kevin Na.

Spuzz Interesting. Okay you sound like you know things. This is good. I will definitely find a replacement for Walker and maybe Hideki.

OK, here are the dregs to replace Walker. Anyone?

In view of your contributions, I changed to the Canadian with the funny name.

        9. Danny Lee (Tier 4)

Not feeling it for Webb Simpson either. Man this tourney is not exactly a who's who. More like who's that?
        .

DonM Not feeling it for Webb Simpson either.

          Maybe Brendan Steele then?

DonM He's a past champion! From my alma mater too! Unfortunately he's also about my age.
