Avon Chamois grips

I bought some black oversized Chamois a few years ago. While I liked the texture of them, I thought they
were a little on the slippery side, but the big thing was that the color seemed to come off on my hands and
glove. At the end of a round my right hand and the glove on my left hand were BLACK!

Sounds like you might have gotten some counterfeit? I've been using the red and blue ones forever (off and on) and never had an issue. I bought from Golfworks, I think.

I always felt like they weren't tacky enough, but I haven't tried one in years.

Seems like I remember others complaining about that as well. I used them for years with no issues but they seemed to get slick very quickly and the oversize ones were quite heavy. The made a Chamois II for awhile which was a totally different compound that was really sticky but I don't think that they were on the market long. Golf Pride has a wrap grip that is similar to the Chamois II and is very tacky.

I don't know, but I normally buy from one of the reputable dealers.....Golfworks, Value Golf, Diamond Tour, or Monark, rather than just looking for the cheapest price on Ebay. Got a "project" going on today, but I'll go back and check
after I finish. (Never thought about counterfeits!)

I checked, and I did order those Chamois from Aaron at Value Golf. Not his fault, I'm sure.....probably
just a bad batch. Maybe I'll give them a try again in the future.....

sdandrea1 last forever... yeah. The person who originally got me into golf has had Chamois on her clubs for over 20 years. The same set, actually. There's a 1/8th inch deep left thumb indent in each one.

Love them, by far my most used grip. Soft and last a long time. They can get slick when wet, but that is why I carry rain gloves.

Are they soft like Dritac or like Crosslines? I'm interested in these but I hate Dritac grips.

We were just talking about these the other night. I made my wife a set of Golfsmith XPC3's seems like twenty years ago with Avon Chamois grips and they're still in perfect shape (she says). I occasionally offer to replace them with new but she likes them just the way they are.

I had them on my clubs and on two of my golf buddies clubs years ago. We each liked them until one day us three went to a three man tourney and it rained. There were golf clubs flying on every other hole. Like a real chamois, they get very slippery when they get wet. Even if your hands sweat they slick up. We all got rid of them by the next year.

Yeah, I wore rain gloves if it rained, or was hand sweating heat. Like Ricochet, I now use Dri-tac.

I have 1 club with an Avon Chamois grip. I honestly never really cared much for it. I never got it wet and tried to play with it, it just never felt very secure in my hands. I currently have mostly golf pride and lacking. I really like the lamkin.

I wish these grips came in midsize. Seems that there are only reg and jumbo.
