Typhoon Its pretty cool to do with wedges where you take an 8 iron shaft and put it in the wedges.

Taking an OG Precision Rifle blank and doing an FCM frequency change/slope for wedges is not like taking said x shaft and tipping 8 iron which most think it's not even close.

It does depend on what shaft...an OG Precision Rifle isn't that common.

I was really wondering about a 73.5g steel shaft. I need a .355, so I'll look up the 850/950GH and check the weight. I played 14 holes today with my new favorite clubs (IsI Nickel) with the stock ZZ65 shafts. I'm not sure it's the MDLT swing thing or not but I was shocked how good those shafts felt when the swing is on a good path. I airmailed a green with the W from 100y. WTF? I might just leave them alone for a bit and see how I play.

I have always been tempted to try the 850/950GH.

The ZZ Lite in my EYE 2S is 105g tip stiff shaft, I think. Not sure what the ZZ65s weigh.

I put ProSoft inserts and Avon Chamois grips on the IsI just now and will be playing in a game tomorrow. We'll see.

Per usual it's probably the swing not the equipment. 😉

For a whole lot of rec. golfers with light non-weighted MoI heft match heads....light graphite shafts with a low balance point promote casting and early release. But now that you are more club focused that may go away or be less of an issue.

The 8i BS are golf forum tales that unknowing posters have bought into. Its based on blanks not discrete lengths.

I just said the same thing in someone's thread about going lighter. A heavier shaft will activate your bigger stronger muscles and alot of people hit it further than lightweight shafts where your body knows you have something light and doesn't activate those muscles. Also, heavier keeps the shaft on plane better. Too light and you get the "High and Right" ballflight.

Head and shaft need to be matched just using a heavier shaft won't accomplish much either it's the blend in the fitting and major branss don't adjust head weight/swing weight much to fit the golfer per individual club it's based on a golf set of clubs algorithm. It's why major brand is just a set of parameters not a true custom fit/build/out. Because major brands do not build one club at a time. Steve your build out is better than TM's. LOL

scotts33 Some of the heavier shafts are too stout for me. I'll usually try to hit a total weight using a bit more head weight (to hit MOI) and a back weight. I can almost always start hitting the lighter stuff on the indoor launch monitor, but it doesn't always carry over to the course.

Try FST Pro 115 A/R .370p Value had some. 115g at 43" after tipping wind up in the 100g 5i 38" range Won't break the bank or Nippon 950GH .355t or .370p.

BTW one needs to factor in mid-iron club head speed, transition time and release early-mid-late. Most don't know these stats. when they are self fitting.

scotts33 I used to use the FST Pro 125, I didn't really care for the 115 but didn't play with it much.

I've been on the lookout for FST Pro 115 in A/R but it seems like everyone is sold out.

Not sure if Patriot Golf has them or just hasn't updated their inventory, but they seem to be just about the only retailer that appears to have them in stock:

FEMCO isn't manufacturing the FST line right now limited to KBS cuz they can get more $$ out of KBS. Same reason you can't find much Apollo it's a supply chain/Covid thing. Nippon might be your best bet.

The days of decent reasonably priced steel maybe gone.

Shaft profile is different. Gotta take that into account first.
