sdandrea1 I don’t see the argument. When was the last time someone on tour won with a set Hogan Apex’s from 1975, A persimmon driver and a 1975 Anser putter? Don’t say they get paid to use new stuff because you just said they are using old stuff.
You have to take advantage of the tech that’s out there. It might not work for everyone but if you’re looking to improve, you have to be aware and try it.
Birdsboro I never got along with center shafted either. I had a couple of good rounds with some CS putters borrowed from friends, but basically 1 good round and then back to horrible. The shaft being stuck in the center just ruins the sightline for me.
My buddy does have a Backstryke putter that I seem to roll well for some reason. I liked the feel of the LAB putters, but couldn't line them up...they are fugly IMO. I did try the PXG version and I was making everything, but in my experience the putters that are money in the store are the worse once you actually buy them.

I'm just talking putters. Thought that was the topic. I argue that dedication to an older putter that yields results (pro tour cash), trumps putter tech. I can do a little research, but I'm betting it won't be hard to find some OLD ASS putters in pro bags (serious golfers).

sdandrea1 I've got the Ping G5i putter I bought new the year they came out. Yes, I've tried others just for S&Gs, but this will never be 'replaced'. Only have 1 other putter in the house right now. Well, 2 if you count that old brass Austad's.
Some of the Pros do go with newer putters(and tech), but most of them revert back to their old putter after a while.

I practice with a blade and when I go to the mallet it seems easier. I’ll play some rounds with my Scotty’s to see if I putt as well, I don’t care, not playing for anything but I will stick to what works best and at this point in time it’s the mallet

He's on tour making money. I'd say he qualifies as a serious golfer. Same for Stricker, Harman, etc. You can sell all the tech you want to posers and shooters, but they're not serious golfers. Putters are very personal items and new tech doesn't sink putts. Golfers sink putts.
I loved my Scotty and putt well with it. That being said I’m not seeing going back to it. As ugly as my LAB is it smokes the Cameron in every category except looks. Line it up it practically swings itself. I’m hitting my lines constantly with no punishment on mishits. These things are crazy good. I paid more for the Scotty. This thing was a steal for $225
Eguller Now if L.A.B would come along with an old school head, like the Bullseye, that was designed the same as these hulks, I'd be in for one. Minimal distraction.
I did love the Link1 though. Nothing better in my hands ever. But, having got it for only a low entry fee, and being able to sell it for over 400, it was 1 of those no brainer deals.

The same shit happens every time a new "thing" comes out and gets attention and in the hands of a few high profile players. Then it fizzles out. Remember 17 more yards RBZ?

L.A.B. putters are not a new thing. Been around for over 10 years. The recent OEM putters may well fizzle out, esp. if they start to infringe on the patents that L.A.B. golf has.
I'll now say that as long as they are not infringing on those patents, they def will fizzle out.
If putters could be built as L.A.B. builds theirs, & be as the current OEM putters are, L.A.B. would already be building some in that manner, with a patent. IOW, IMO, the current OEM putters are a farce. Won't perform repeatedly (key word!) as L.A.B. putters do.

UNCLE! I'm just trying to make the point that serious golfers don't HAVE to have the latest tech to putt their best. I thought John's comment earlier implied that serious golfers always seek the latest tech in putters. I disagree. It's just an opinion. Everybody else wins. I'm wrong.
