Watched An American Werewolf in London yesterday. Saw it when it came out in 1981 and have seen it several times since then. Read where John Landis wrote the script in 1969, but no financiers would back it then because it was too frightening to be a comedy film and to humorous to be a horror film. lol

Watched Creature from the Black Lagoon after a very long time since watching it last. Pretty much a stock horror formula where a beautiful woman is in danger most of the movie. The story and setup about the evolution of the man-fish is kind of funny when viewed from the modern day. The danger hidden in murky water is pretty strong and a real world fear for many. The creature is iconic in my eyes, one of the great movie costumes of all time.

johnnydoom One of the best. Loved that movie as a kid and had the plastic model you put together. A lot of those older movies work better in black and white then they would in color. Makes them more ominous.

The month is over, but I still have recorded material to watch. Final Destination - a Spuzzamendation. First watch and one I’m glad was recommended. This movie drew me in like few have. I was feeling the depression that the characters were feeling. My only complaint is that it got a little too repetitive towards the end. But the setup, the premise, and the progression of the plot to that point were fantastic.

This post was concerning Final Destination 2, which I've just now watched 48 weeks later. I guess that wasn't too long into the future 😆.

Yet again a very immersive experience. It's amazing how well that hook has worked through two movies with very little character development, but it worked extremely well. Both one and two went by almost in fast forward.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). IMO, a better version of the already classic 1956 version. Placing it in 70’s San Francisco with a cast of quirky actors playing very quirky characters enhanced the atmosphere greatly as it would have been equally believable that the characters were all victims of some shared insanity. One of my favorite movies then and now. The paranoia hook that it shares with movies like The Thing is very effective.

Both the 1956 and 1978 movies were very good. A side note of the 1956 movie I remember was that the later famed director Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch) had a small part in that film. I remember he had a small scene in the basement of a home. Classic movie….

ode It was from earlier, 1986 I think? HL was played by Brian Cox. The plot is very similar to Red Dragon. William Peterson is a profiler and the main character.

Not as imaginative as the stories in the first one, nor with as well known cast, but still a fun watch if you're into horror vignettes. On Amazon Prime.
