Carrie (1976)
I saw this a few years after it came out, but it was a highly edited "for the first time on TV" version of it and I didn't think it was all that good. Decided to watch it again last night since it appears high in horror movie rankings. It doesn't seem to flow well to me as though much was left out or cut out even though this was the theatrical version. Most of the acting is not stellar, but I do now very much appreciate the performance by Sissy Spacek. Her character changes too much over the short time the story covers, but she did a tremendous job portraying the emotions that go with that big range of changes. I thought her prom date, William Katt's performance was also good. Didn't remember that notable actors John Travolta, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, and Nancy Allen were all in this too. The nostalgia factor is strong for this one as I was only a couple of years younger than the characters at the time and it took me back. I'll likely never watch it again, but am glad I took the time last night to see it through an entirely different perspective than my first watch 40 something years ago.
