rsvman2 Never understood why people like horror flicks
I don't have a good grasp on why I like them. There's some adrenaline involved and an escape from reality for a little while that triggers emotions that don't surface in everyday life.
Watched Yongary, Monster from the Deep last night. I didn't seek it out, it's just an old (1967) Korean giant monster movie that I never saw before and happened to be on a TV station. There is actually no horror involved in this film. It is a very cheesy copy of the Godzilla style movies with a man in a rubber suit giant reptile that resembles Godzilla except that it has a horn on it's nose. Instead of breathing fire from it's mouth it has a laser.
It has allegorical themes that science based solutions are better than military when faced with an immediate threat, that empathy for the enemy is a good human quality, and that fossil fuels feed a monster that will destroy us. It is a movie that I might of actually enjoyed in 1967 when I was a young child, but is more of a silly comedy and boring to extreme levels. I fell asleep for 10 minutes in the middle of it. A poor production in writing and execution.
