scotts33 I have a light shaft , Nippon Modus 105 in the clubs I used to use. I was discussing the shaft with a friend who is similar to me. We both had the same problem getting high amd right ball flights. He went to the Modus 120, I tried a DGPro s300… both heavier shafts and THAT kept the shaft on plane and eliminates the right miss.

Whenever I found a shaft that felt smooth to me, but also performed well, the profile would show that the tip section was relatively firm while the butt was softer. I think materials made a difference as well. A Proforce V2 75 would work well for me, but the similar profile Accra would definitely feel better. Although the Accra would always seem to require a more consistent tempo than the PF for me.......and neither consistent nor tempo are words you would associate with my swing.

KCee The soft butt transmits the soft feeling but you you can’t have a quick transition because you’ll never control it. I like the Modus 120 but if I get quick I it’s the demo club, it’s all over the place.

I am too quick, but I think the stiffer tip helps control things. I agree with a too quick transition you can't have any section of the shaft be too soft. I do think that I slow down my swing when the shaft feels better though. I can hit Dynamic Gold, but it feels like sh*t to me even in R300 and I think it makes me swing harder. I would rather Nippon or KBS where you get a nicer feel and I don't want to try and kill it. I have DG 105 in my irons now and it's ok, but I miss my Recoil 110 and will probably swap them this winter.

KCee KBS Ctaper lite at 110 grams might be good for you. The standard project x 5.5-6.0 gives me great dispersion numbers. Ball speed and distance are a not the best but it’s close. Just can’t beat the tight dispersion.

Typhoon Yes I think I recall trying the C Taper Lite shaft and liking it. I always liked the original KBS Tour and the FST Pro 125. Last fitting I got to try the Oban and Shimada steel shafts as well and they had great feel. I got the DG 105 since it was no extra charge and the launch monitor #'s were as good as anything else. I would swap my Recoils in now, but my daughter's boyfriend has my old clubs....for now.

Yeah they make all these shaft flavors for a reason. When you find the right one, it's magic. I've had that luck with driver shafts but only somewhat with irons. I'm in the mood right now to work on the iron shaft puzzle. I had some good luck last night with my second test combo so now I'm building out the set.

Today I took my normal irons out on the course today, with a swing adjustment, and they were great. Go figure.

Still, I have another, different, shorter set on deck.

DonM No idea why people don't blame their own swings. If my game is off, I don't go looking at making 4 clubs 4"over length, bending 1 club 8 degrees flat, duct taping a swing donut to the end of the club, putt with the grip end instead of the head like guys do here. Just wait a couple days, go back out and you're fine. If not, take a lesson. Gotta chill out and relax.😁

Typhoon Understood, but even with my flawed swing some irons work better than others. I still think shorter irons are in my future.

DonM I dunno... you had a good round, I saw your score! Seems for you time spent figuring out you swing was time better spent than on clubwork! Congrats on fixing yourself

Depends on your talent level. If you’re John you can hit just about anything and score well.

I get people with awful swings that are absolutely terrible. I look at what they have now and put them into something that is more for their body dimensions, swing speed and talent level. I even tell them that these are what you’ll be best with if you plan on getting better.

It’s when you start getting off the rails building weird shit that the lightbulb should go off. Are there baseball players using 65 oz bats that are 8 feet long? No…. Building weird shit isn’t gonna hold up if you have some semblance of a golf swing.

I might have mentioned a few weeks ago having to play 9 using my bosses clubs. Everything was a low hook or a block if I tried to correct it. Length is the big issue.

His clubs were 1” over, 125g, 2 degrees upright and px 6.5 LS… low spin.

I measure for -1/2”. My old clubs were modus 105s , standard lie. I already don’t get much spin.

Possibly the most polar opposite you could go. His driver was 7 degrees with a HZRDUS green Hulk shaft 70 grams x flex tipped an inch.
