That’s why I said in general. Lol I heard Barney Adams say basically this in a long interview on PGA Tour Radio.
His contention was that people wrongly thought you would hit it father with an A flex shaft. He said a softer shaft should hit it higher, but not necessarily farther.
The idea behind higher torque helping to close the face has merit as well, but of course not etched in stone for everyone.
A golfer can override anything with their swing.
Sure, there’s fast swing speeds that could use an A flex and slow swing speeds that could use stiff shafts. But the in general consensus has some merit.
If you look at shafts sold by The Golfworks you’ll see many higher torque shafts rated S to fight a slice for example. And lower torque shafts rated H to fight a hook.
As we know a one size fits all is dangerous in golf. That’s why they’re called generalities. Lol
