Got my new 0211 driver with R flex Tensei shaft on Thursday. Took it Friday to a golf dome that just installed Top Tracer. TT is really cool and seemed very accurate based on my known distances. I usually don't go to this place often because there isn't much to be learned from hitting into a dome 75 yards out, but now I'll likely go more often. And they only charge $12 for a bucket ($9 senior) with no time limit. I think they'll need to go to an hourly charge as people will monopolize spots for hours for one bucket.
Anyway on to the PXG. Hit multiple balls with the new PXG with R flex Tensei shaft and my Wishon 919 with an A flex Fuji Fit on Max shaft that I may have tipped a bit, can't remember. Both were really straight with the PXG maybe being 2-3 yards longer, but the Wishon felt better. The PXG felt a little dead to me, probably just the muted sound. I felt like I was working too hard with the R flex shaft compared to the A flex Wishon, especially for no real gain.
So today I took the PXG to the course. It had rained for a couple days in a row here so I wasn't expecting anything distance wise. First shot with the PXG went 235? That's long for me, intriguing. Next few shots were no where near as long, though all fairways, more like 200 yards which I expected considering the conditions. Like at the range, I felt I was working harder than necessary due to the shaft maybe being too stiff. It seemed to be affecting my timing some as my arms would lag and I hit a few right and a couple sliced. A lot of the drives were 10-15 yards longer than my average even on shots I didn't feel I hit that well, so that's interesting. And I wasn't getting through the ball well, again maybe because of the shaft stiffness? Or maybe I just wasn't swinging well.
So I'd like to try the head with an A flex shaft, but the extra yards has me intrigued. At my fitting the guy recommended the R flex shaft as it helped my high spin numbers some. Maybe that's responsible for the extra yards even though I didn't think I hit it that well? Problem is I hit 2-3 drives that would have likely been OB on a lot of courses where I was late getting through the shot. That doesn't happen with the Wishon and probably isn't worth the extra yards on the other drives. Playing again tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. I was also a bit stiff from my basketball game last night so maybe that played a role. Should get two more chances to try it out before my Vegas trip in about a week .Gotta decide which one to take.
