backinit driver is gen5 0311 xf 10.5 loft shaft is evenflow 60 gm regular flex. I’m anticipating loft will be good maybe weights oriented in draw position. Hybrid is 0211 4. My 0211 irons are 5-gw so I went with that

Nice memory…South Carolina I used a set of Callaway xhot rentals. All the shafts were mixed so some were stiff and some were regular. I shot 6 under par 66.

Celebration CC in Orlando, rental set of Ping G irons shot -3 both days.
Phonican hotel in Arizona I shot -4 with rental x hot 2
Karsten ASU course -3 including a hole in one with i25 rentals.

As long as the length is correct, you can adapt.

backinit I'm oggling those gen 4 drivers too... let us know what you think. I got an auction ending Sunday that'll cover the cost of an 0811 but not sure if I wanna go for it yet. It'd be nice to have a driver newer than 2008 around here.

Man, leftys take note, PXG on ebay is selling off LH stuff cheap. Gen4 driver at $104.80 shipped. Even a Gen5 at $179.

RH not as good as deal, but still some nice ones. 0211 driver at $140-$150 shipped.

And here is my PXG driver summary for interested parties....

Gen 1 - avoid
Gen 2 - XF is a winner. X is not very forgiving and doesn't gain enough over the XF.
Gen 3 (Proto) - OK, but not much improvement over Gen2 other than the big weights.
0211 - Good performer, but a bit louder than the others. No moveable weights if that is needed.
Gen 4 - Really nice. X is the sweet spot here, it is forgiving enough for me to see no need for the XF. XT is fine if you must have a slightly smaller head.
Gen 5 - A good step up. Weights are set wider, so more effective. Better looking than Gen4. X is plenty forgiving, so I haven't tried the XF.

Helpful! Been looking hard at the Gen 4 at that great price, X with the Cypher shaft in 12 degrees. Gen 5 is a little more than I'd like to spend.

Yeah, when the Gen5 was on $299 sale, versus the current $219 Gen4, that one would be a hard decision.

But right now at $280 difference, I'd definitely stick with Gen4.

wishbone I looked at the cypher shaft a bit.
A buddy purchased a cobra radspeed extreme some time ago with a UST Helium in regular. I put a few swings on that and it felt surprisingly stable....assuming the helium and cypher were similar....I just couldn't go that light.

I have the Cypher40R from my Gen5. It wasn't as whippy as I expected for a sub 50 gram R flex.

I stuck with my Xcaliber Avalon 5 stiff which is amazing, but I have kept the Cypher as a backup.

I’ve currently got a Avalon 5 in my Taylormade and I’m extremely happy with it.

colej Any idea of the profile? I’m using a Kuro Kage 50. It’s supposed to be stiff - soft - stiff, like a hinge in the middle. Best driver shaft I’ve used.

Easy answer in my case. The change was a result of a desire to switch to graphite shafts to help the body and I did indeed put the PXG immediately in the bag.

Work got in the way of having a decent golf swing. Between too much work and no practice my swing was lost. As a result, frustration set in so I wanted to remove a variable. That variable was taking the new 0211 irons out of the bag and putting the G410 back in play. Initially, the old clubs were just as bad as the new until I figured out I was overdoing pieces of the swing I put in play last season.

As my swing improved (still is) it was now time to play golf including golf travel. As a result, I’ve not put the PXG back in the bag as I don’t want to have a set back especially given I still have two more golf trips pending (Myrtle and Pinehurst). I may put the PXG in the bag come mid Nov or next spring or maybe not at all as my swing / iron play has improved over the last few months.

Trust me, you won't have a set back. I've never noticed any changes in my swing going from steel-graphite-steel-graphite. I may not take the same set of irons out 2 times in a row. And hardly ever, drivers, which I always take 2 of. Scores have been within 2-4 strokes every time, and may not be at the same courses.

I once did not play for almost 21 yrs.; never picked up a club for anything. Last 9 hole round was a 41. I bought a set of old irons/woods from a thrift shop 1 day, coming out of the barber shop next door. $1 each. And bag. Drove straight to a course and shot 42 for the 9.

Glad it works for you.

There is 30 gram difference in shaft weight and a difference in shaft length so I won’t be making any changes at this time.

Cwing What was the difference in shaft length between the iron sets? I might have mentioned I used a set of my bosses irons, totally wrong for me since he is a foot taller. I could have adjusted to everything other than the addition 1” of shaft length.
