Would shutting down a pipeline construction project on day one have any effect on decisions of oil companies? Asking for a friend (don't want to be called an ignorant idiot by the "professor").
Gas Prices, am I right?!
Some seem to believe that ONE pipeline, which was to ship the world's costliest "oil" to produce ("oil" that is strip mined), would magically solve the global energy situation forever.
Yipsy Do you want gas to skyrocket to force people into EVs?
Oh, I was afraid you'd put in your two cents. EV's aren't even close to market ready. Get real.
Par4QC So his sig is on all the permits?
Of course it is. Does Congress and the Executive branch have the ability to indirectly affect the use of natural resources in North America? Of course but, that's a different topic than what price Big Oil sets for their product.
johnnydoom Yes. He can fire the Secretaries of Energy and Interior at will canโt he? If he canโt than he is only a figurehead and is of no value or consequence to anyone.
I addressed this above. Indirectly yes, the gov't can affect the production of oil t some degree. But who refines it and sells it as gasoline? Geezus, enough already. It's a myth that the POTUS sets or adjusts the price of gasoline.
Learning a lot reading this thread. Didn't realize there are climate experts here let alone oil market experts .
professor It's a myth that the POTUS sets or adjusts the price of gasoline.
That is absolutely true, but I donโt think anyone either said or implied such. Just that their policies can have significant impacts.
Yipsy Want to make it appear the climate is going to hell in a handbasket to push EVs? You can. Nobody disputes that.
Okay... if you say so. I'm certain that the exhaust from factories, manufacturing, steel mills, etc... along with just a little from automobiles and diesel tractors haven't affected anything. Sure.
$2.89 twice in West Texas, always cheaper in my experience. Ft Worth tomorrow
Unfuckingbelievable
Walterjn how many years have they been crying that the oceans are rising, that climate change will kill the population by year xxxx if we don't do anything? I know Al Gore has been going on about it for a few decades now.
Right, so the polar ice caps aren't melting. Got it. Just loving geezers who deny climate change because they don't want to make changes in their life style. Selfish folks who love to bitch about others being selfish. Happy Birthday grandchildren do we have a surprise in store for you...
Try this Mister Conspiracy:
"Melting polar ice is slowing the Earth's rotation, with possible consequences for timekeeping. A new study found that ice loss caused by climate change is redistributing mass on the Earth enough to alter its spin."
