It really is sad. Maybe I’ll just assemble what I have and leave it at the local muni with a note to take it. It’s probably not time/cost effective for me to sell most of the stuff. Maybe I’ll just take out the most interesting things and throw out the rest.

Years ago I had a lot of like new component equipment I wanted to donate. I contacted First Tee and they were rude and snobbish and told me they would only accept like new OEM equipment.

Rickochet I had the same issue for the past 10 years. Every few years I try to donate to some program and each time it gets increasingly harder. The First Tee has been a joke for years. I could probably try to donate a brand new set of Cobra F7s and be told they are too old for them to use.

back when I was still custom laser engraving grips (some of you recall) with player names, businesses etc. I ran a big fundraiser by doing a pink ribbon grip for breast cancer. I called the Susan G. Komen breast cancer main office and said that I have $6,350 dollars that I want to send to you as a result of my small fundraiser. I wanted to know where I should send that donation and where I could send subsequent checks.

They said, We only accept monetary donations of $10,000 per donation and that they were NOT interested in just over six grand.

SCREW THEM!

I sent it to a local women's organization and told them that story. They were shocked and saddened, but were more than happy to accept any donations I would bring to them.

Consider reaching out to disabled, blind, and veteran golf schools. They might be my ore agreeable to taking club donations. Sometimes they can sell them to able bodied beginners, or pass them on to a disabled beginner who needs clubs.

Taki27 I've donated several sets of clubs to my hometown golf course/country club. They do not have 1st Tee, but do put on a clinic every summer for kids. I was kind of sure not all the kids would be able to afford clubs, so did it that way. Look around for smaller area courses that do such things.

And they got the benefit of using 100% of that money, not the .06% they would have received otherwise. I never give to 'big name' charities. Always go local, where you already know their story and how they are run.

Ynotgolf Shit, most all charity orgs are like that. Then they only pass along a miniscule amount of the funds.

This is from a couple years ago. I do think a couple places, like Goodwill, has changed some. imo, most times, charities = scams.

Go local, where you know the people. It doesn't have to be a 'charity org', lots of places need help. Food banks, shelters, and such. You get an even better 'feel good' afterwards, and know you truly did help.

Goodwill pretty much operates as if it were a for profit.

In my experience, First Tee has a ton of turnover and all chapters are different. The ones local to me are a pain and seemed to have been staffed in the past, by people that do not really care. I found a chapter about an hour from me that is very good. It is a bit of a pain to donate, but they are always appreciative.
