Bent shaft tip help

So I pulled the KBS 105 shafts out of my TS1 heads tonight. My PW and 9 iron shafts have a bit of a bent tip. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the bend out? I know I can buy a new shaft but I am trying not too. I have had similar issues with FST115 shafts in the past as well.

Mattyv I think KBS will replace them. Known issue.

Ok. I saw a thread from last year that @candukid posted with a similar issue. Only difference is I have .370 shafts and his were .355.

KBS is notorious for bent tips. FST=KBS, so.....

I won't claim to have knowledge about straightening the tips. But, I might suggest making sure you place a snug fitting dowel, or even a pencil in the tip prior to any attempt though, to prevent collapse/split.

Spuzz Agree. Even if successfully straightened, the damage to the structural integrity will not be repaired. If it were just an issue of cosmetics it would be worth a try, but since club performance depends on shaft response I wouldn't be confident that the performance would still be there.

If you have ever had a steel shaft break sending razor sharp metal shards flying you would never attempt to straighten a bent shaft.

I will say this, but a club builder would need to chime in to say if it is feasible or would alter club performance significantly. If the bend is right at the hosel, you could conceivably straighten it, cut just enough off the tip so that the portion that was bent is now in the hosel and not in the region that flexes during the swing. Now the shaft should flex smoothly. Whether or not tipping the shaft that amount (1/2" maybe?) will significantly alter the response would probably depend on shaft characteristics (parallel tip?) and your swing (fast or slow transition), but I don't have the expertise to evaluate that approach.

johnnydoom I would think the bend would have to be above the hosel, so at least 1". Too much to tip for use in current set up.

Oh good God, it’s $40 for a new shaft….just re shaft it and be done. I can’t believe you would think straightening it would work.

Bent tips have been a KBS problem for years. Can’t believe it’s never been rectified. It’s the reason I stay away from them during fittings

New steel shafts are cheap enough to avoid the risk. Free new shafts are even cheaper.

Ok. I called Golfworks today since they have a lifetime warranty on shafts and these were part of a pre-built set of TS1'S I got from them. Apparently the KB Tour 105 S flex .370 shafts have been retired. They wanted me to send them back before replacing them. I said this does me no good for playing next week. She agreed and said they are going to contact KBS and call me back.
Just got off the phone with the CS rep and she said they were able to locate 3 of the shafts and are sending them out to me free of charge TODAY! She asked if I could send them back anyway. I offered instead to email them pictures and she said that would be fine. That was some pretty damn good customer service if you ask me. If I didn't mention before, my pw and 9i had pronounced bends and my 6i had a slight bend. I pretty sure I can turn the 6i shaft into a 9i shaft so I can have a spare shaft on hand.

Mattyv Now there are gonna be all kinds of adjustments in your game to compensate for losing the bent tips, lofts being off and faces pointing in the wrong direction 😂

It's ok. The shafts are going into a different set of heads anyway. Plus I hit my PW 182.3 yards every time, so if it is off, I will know.🤣
