Enough wind to need to make allowance for it, but not enough to cause problems for those who are playing well - the forecast is suggesting slightly stronger winds over the weekend, which should be interesting... There has been a fair bit of rain since the men's Scottish Open and Open Championship, so the course isn't as firm and fast as it was a few weeks ago, as can be seen by there being a fair bit of green to the fairways. (I'll be playing nearby on both days this weekend - my home course is a few miles to the west - and am expecting reasonable scoring conditions.)
Muirfield is one of the more straightforward links courses - it's relatively flat, and almost all of the hazards are obvious - but it's very easy to get into a lot of trouble if you hit the ball in the wrong place.
