Weirfan All depends on the grip and shaft butt , this should help you determine how to get to a midsize grip ( + 1/16) depending on what your starting grip and shaft diameter are. Note not all build up tape is the same thickness so that is another variable to consider

I wear a XXL glove, so I have used a +1/8 sized grip for years. For some reason though, I've noticed that these oversized grips made of traditional materials don't seem to affect the weight of my irons nearly as much as they do with my woods. So currently, I'm using Lamkin Crossline Jumbos on the irons, wedges and hybrids and Winn oversized on my woods. I'd prefer to use the same grips all the way through the set (and I don't like the limited wearability of the Winns), but this seems to be the best compromise for me.

I've been using midsize grips for the past (at least) 15 years. I started with Soft cord midsize grips because I didn't like to wear gloves. I have stayed with midsize grips since then. For the past three years I've used GP Tour Velvet midsize but last summer I tried a couple of CP2 Pro and CP2 wrap grips on two of my drivers. I love them and just received 13 of the CP2 Pro's which will replace the Tour Velvets.

mulegolf I've been using CP2 Pros for several seasons now and really like them. The standard size feels like at least + 1/32" to me and not much if any taper. I don't have to add extra tape like with most grips. They clean up easy and last a while.

I like the blue CP2 wraps just as much as the CP2 Pro's. I've got them on two driver shafts.

That is what they (CP2's) advertise. There is no taper. I have used them since they came out and will purchase nothing else.

Yes I like the wrap too and have one on a driver. Between Recoil shafts and CP grips I haven't had my normal elbow and wrist pain the last few years.

I'm looking at possibly putting Recoils in my two new Cleveland CBX Full Face wedges. I'm having problems finding Cleveland ferrules. The ones I'm finding are to small of a diameter where it meets the hosel.

I've slowly gone up in grip size over the last 10 years or so -- from standard to the now sadly discontinued Diamond Tour Super Jumbo (or whatever they were called) grips. I just find it easier to hold onto -- less grip pressure. My hands aren't that large -- used to wear a ML Cadet glove. Some who like the fatter grips point out that in no other "stick and ball" sport is the handle anywhere near as small as a standard golf grip. Racquet sports, baseball, hockey, even polo grips are larger.

azgreg I've been a Lamkin Crossline guy for a long time now. However, I've wanted to try the Golf Pride +4s for their reduced taper. I finally tried one. I picked up a Tour Velvet midsize +4 and tried it this weekend. Like it a lot and will be switching the rest of my clubs over.

I have used the Winn oversize grips for many years primarily the Excel and the Dritac. This spring I saw a new grip they have called the DriTac LT that has a larger lower section. Both the Excel and the Dritac Jumbos already have a reduced taper but the LT has almost no taper. I put a set on some irons and have only had one range session with the but I really like the feel. I don't like the price but the feel is nice.

Another lover of Golf Pride Cp2 wrap grip here. Was tempted to try midsize in these due to arthritis but the standard seem slightly thicker than most. So no need.

I always measure the thickness of a new roll of tape with some digital calipers. Take a piece and fold it over on itself and measure. That will be how much each wrap adds. And check shaft width and grip core size.

Like shaft flex every different grip brand feel a different size. I wear xl cadet glove. Any 600 core grip feels skinny. The cheaper grips like Karma feel pencil thin. I tried some star midsize but they feel bulky. A star smoothie ( which I believe is 590 core) with one wrap plus extra 2 under right hand feels right. Wynn mid size also feel right.

Some mids are 1/16, 3/32, and 1/32. Taper another variable.....Pure, although being very durable have the most taper I've ever used. Not a plus in my book!

mulegolf I don't have Recoils in my wedges, those have Accra SP-T wedge shafts which are heavier. The graphite definitely helps there. I don't usually take much of a divot with my irons, but I'm steeper with the wedges at times.

Be careful of grip weight. As an example, Golf Pride G2 wrap can vary in weight form the lightest 43g to heaviest at 74g. That is like backweighting a club with a 30g weight. The weight difference will drive a SW scale crazy.
I have seen people anguish over 15 to 20g of backweighting yet paying no attention to grip weight.
