Might as well stir the pot a bit. I just finished a short shoot out with 3 drivers:
1 - Callaway Mavrik Max w/Matrix 60
2 - PING G400 Max w/Kuro Kage 50
3 - SMT 455DB w/Matrix
I only hit about 8 drives with each as I am still recovering from bronchitis and was bored
with taking it easy.
-The PING Max has been my Go-To for several years and still has 'it'.
- The MavMax with the Matrix shaft at 45.5" was surprisingly good and just might make the next
round I play. Sounds/feels great and dependable.
- The SMT 455DB was a new one with the spec label on the crown. Shafted at USGA 46" just to
relive my LD days (at higher loft) I wasn't expecting much. I should have. For those who poo-poo
old component heads, well, you shouldn't. It was easily as good as the other 2 and felt great and went
like stink. In fact, I left the plastic w/specs on the head to protect it as I didn't think it would be any more
than a dance with the past. Wrong. Keeper. My new scramble club.
Spuzz must be smiling - red head with a red Matrix shaft ð
